I want to say it was $300 last time, but don't hold me to that number.

Here's another one of those things...  I THINK...MP was responsible for initiating the meet and greets.  Not 100% sure though.  If so, don't know if they'll continue...I'd guess Yes, but again, not sure.

Well, they're doing it in Europe, so I don't see why not in the US.

I gotta say, $300 sounds pretty steep... But now that I know that ahead of time, I'll psyche myself up for it.

thanks for all the info, looking at the old meet and greets, I am kinda sad you can't get a picture with an indvidual member(example, I want one with rudess and petrucci.

might still get the meet and greet if you can get individual pictures not group pictures

Why wouldn't you want it with all the other members?

Well, they'll still be there. It's just kinda weird to say, "I want a picture with you and you. But not him, him or him."

Yes and because not meeting them allows me to keep them in their music and wont taint my opinions of any member.

Well, you already get a sense of their personalities from interviews and documentaries. Don't tell me you avoid those too.

Actually I remember thinking this same thing but it turned out not to be the case.  I think it was something management suggested.   Either way, Ive been very curious about this too.  I was never interested before but I was also never this excited about a new release so I may just bite the bullet and go.  Plus it at least guarantees a good seat for the show.

Any idea if they're doing a M&G for the Victoria Park show in London? And if so, how can I get a ticket?

I honestly don't think there are any M&Gs this tour, haven't seen anything about them.

There aren't any for the UK shows at the very least. None that you can purchase anyway, possible they've been arranged via a fan club maybe?

Not for us in SoCal... don't know what other venue/city prices are like.  In 2002 I payed $300 for a meet and greet tix. So... 10 years later...the same price?  I can live with that.  ;D  Also.... I try to do it everytime, just because a reg tix, first 3 rows centerish is going to cost me $200+ anyways.

Well, if that's the price for the front row tickets, then yeah, that sounds like a reasonable add on.

How can you apply for a meet and greet?I find it pathetic that you actually have to pay for a meet and greet though..The right thing would be to just apply for it and then after a ballot winners would get to meet the band!

No...that's not a great idea.  If its important enough to you, you pay the money; if it's not you don't.  If its random, its not fair to the die-hards who love the band if someone who isn't as much of a fan won the lottery.  If its by essay or something, being articulate doesn't make someone a better fan.  If it's a merit based system the same people get in every time.  People can vote with their wallets though.  Unfortunately money is the ultimate voice in anything.  It's like anything in life, you pay for people's time.  Your employer pays you for your time; you pay for your lawyer's, landscaper's, mechanic's, and (indirectly) service industry people's time - why should it be different with Dream Theater's time?

Not saying they are worth a whole lot, but you also get some other special gifts with the meet & greet, and even the wait in line can be great if you make the most of the time waiting.

I just dont think that meeting anyone even your idols like DT is worth paying anything..Even if gifts are provided, 300 dollars are way too expensive! And sorry mate but i find it quite ridiculous that you compare DT meeting money to money spent for a Lawyer, a Landscaper and a Mechanic.

I did a meet and greet at a guitar shop with just Myung and Petrucci about 2 years ago, so I'm sure they'll do it on their own. Also, it was free to come into the shop and I even got signed photos of them free, and guitar picks as well. So I guess it just depends.

I have absolutely no problem with spending $300, I've done it twice, and will do it again just to meet MM and Talk to JLB again (he actually remembered me the 2nd time...LOL)  Like I said earlier, If I'm already paying $200+ for a center first 3 rows tix, Im more than willing to pay a lil more for a meet and greet.  Also...I can't THANK the band enough for giving us the opportunity.  Someone mentioned a lottery... yeah...  don't like that idea.  Like mentioned, it leaves it open for some guy who doesn't even follow the band but his buddy gave him a tix, to meet the band.
