Had an interview on Monday. Said they'd let me know in a week... haven't heard anything yet, but how long does "within a week" or "in a week" actually mean?
-
If they say in a week that should mean Monday... but it really depends on the place. I had one place tell me they would let me know by the end of the week but didn't hear from them so I took another position and then they called me maybe a week or so later saying they wanted me. If you don't hear from them, just call... worst case scenario they say "Oh yeah, we chose someone else" but some people appreciate when you make the effort to contact them.

In my experience when a potential employer says they'll call you within a week it means they'll call you in 2 to 3 weeks, after you have given up any hope of getting the job. That has seriously happened to me 3 or 4 times. And they usually only call if you get the job; rejections have always come in the form of a letter or nothing whatsoever.

Call at the end of the day Monday. They said a week, and you give them a week. If they didn't make a decision yet, the call back shows your genuine interest.

I was planning on calling them on Tuesday if I didn't hear from them by Monday.
-
Sounds like a good plan.

I'm in the same boat and this is my thoughts. I'm planing on calling a week from the interview to show them how much I'm interested.

Well it's Tuesday. I plan on calling sometime today. I'll let you know what happens.
