A video version may become available later today or tomorrow.

awesome guy
I don't think we need to worry at all about MM not being as outgoing in interviews as MP.
I liked his thing about "Give me the ball."
Why is the link bringing me to just text?

My god he can talk. :lol
Great interview though, intrigued to find out what songs are on the master setlist for the summer.
I like Mangini, and I'm super psyched that he's the new drummer, but holy crap he talks a lot.

It seems that we are going to see A LOT of songs between the summer tour and the winter tour. Really happy for that :D
And, was I the only one trying to figure out what facial expressions he was having during the interview? :lol

Maybe spending some time too close to JM will make him a quieter man. :hat
I expect A LOT of classics in the summer - plenty from I&W, Awake and SFAM (+ the three audition songs of course). Then obviously more new songs in the autumn/winter (and hopefully ACOS ;) ).
Wasteland: i have a video of the interview as well, as it was done over video chat, and i'm uploading it as we speak. So you may actually be able to see those expressions.
Regarding talking; most artists i've interviewed have been extremely easy to interview - they are so accustomed to the the process of interviewing that they basically just talk and talk trying to cover what they think you actually wanted to ask ;) Sometimes they predict what you're gonna ask within the first couple of words and you can see them be kinda waiting impatiently for you to finish the question so they can start their answer.

I know they kind of have to play the audition songs, because it would be like a middle finger to Mangini if they didn't, but TDOE and TSCO are two of my least favorite DT songs, hopefully when they come to America, those two songs can be dropped.
I'd actually prefer them to drop ANTR out of the three. First because it takes such a big chunk of the set, and second because they played it at nearly every show last tour.
"Can't wait to see you on the road with Dream Theater--" "YEAAAAH!"
Brilliant.

Same here, as I expressed elsewhere in this forum. On the other side, I expect TSCO to be granted a permanent place in every setlist of the tour, it's quite logical... probably as the first song of the encore, or the last song of the set.

I'd be fine with that song dropped too haha. But I skipped out on the last tour and didn't get to see it, so I don't have the distaste for it that I have for TSCO and TDOE, especially TSCO since they usually add in a 10-15 minute jam before hand that never goes anywhere.
I don't have time right now, so I'll listen to it tomorrow. Sounds good, though.

Mike Mangini's voice, as weird as this sounds, sounds like it should be on VCPR in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Does the man speaks with an average Boston accent? Or is the way he speaks particular compared to that of others from the same place?

No, bro. Let me deconstruct and rearrange the sentence.

My excitement for mike being in DT just went up.
Great interview! I really cannot wait to hear what he brings to the table and you really get the sense from this interview that he's chomping at the bit to show DT fans what he can do. Such an energy about the band right now and it's very exciting. I really haven't felt this pumped about a DT release in years! I hope he does fit in with the band as well as the audition footage seems to suggest.
haveing seen Mike live before, he is going to flip some people out at what he can do, plus he will play things as we know them.
Awesome interview, good questions. :tup

No he has a very typical Boston accent. It's quite awesome actually!

Mike was my man from the start, but my respect and appreciation for him is ever increasing, very cool interview.

:rollin He is a Chatty Kathy I recall in part 1 of the auditions film which I watched many times whenever it got to the part with Mike talking to the guys about "not being mike, not replaceing mike blah blah blah I would have to fast foward. It was funny.
