Systematic chaos which isn't DT's best album but those songs are great. So, what are you think, which is better? I personally prefer TMoLS.
-
ITPOE I > TMOLS > ITPOE II
-
ITPOE
-
TMOLS easily.
-
Can't stand TMOLS. This is an easy choice.

Exactly.
-
prophets of war
-
The ministry of lost souls is good, but not as good as the ITPOE saga :D
-
I absolutely love TMOLS
-

Exactly.
That makes 3 of us.
-
ITPOE. TMOLS is my least favorite DT song.

3 + 1 = 4

ITPOE I > TMOLS > ITPOE II
That is all.

Two of my favourite DT songs. Going with ItPoE though.
-
ITPOE I > TMOLS > ITPOE II
That is all.

Yeah, Kev nailed it.
Personally, I don't understand how anyone can dislike Ministry of Lost Souls...it may drag a bit, but the solo at the end is mint.
-
ItPoE pt. 2 > ItPoE pt. 1 > TMoLS
-
Voted TMOLS, but:
ITPOE I > TMOLS > ITPOE II
Basically, to show my opinions numerically:
ITPOE Pt. 1: 4.5
ITPOE Pt. 2: 3.5
ITPOE: 3.5 (Yeah, I really hate The Reckoning)
TMOLS: 4.0

ITPOE I > TMOLS > ITPOE II
:)

Same here. ITPOE would be very far from the top of my top DT songs list, but I still don't mind most of it. TMOLS on the other hand puts me to sleep whenever I try to listen to it. ITPOE.
-
TMOLS easily.
-
In the Presence of Enemies.
-
ITPOE I > TMOLS > ITPOE II
Exactly this.
-
TMOLS is my 2nd favorite Dream Theater song.
ITPOE is awesome as well, though. :metal
-
Both songs are great, ItPoE is probably a top 10 DT song to me though.

can't decide.

can't decide.
Well, you better.

Arrrgggghhhh, forgot add "can't decide" option

Good, cop out answer.
-
ITPOE I > TMOLS > ITPOE II
Yep, ITPOE sandwich.
-
I was doing my song rankings a while back for every DT song and ITPOE pt.1 was up at number 10. Then I remembered to rank it as a whole song. It now sits at like 60 something. I like bits of pt 2 (parts of part 2?) but not enough to bring the whole thing up.
-
It was a close one for me, though. I could have gone either way.
-
Love them both. TMOLS just takes it for that solo and the general vibe, and because JP didn't plagiarise the lyrics...
that we know of...
I enjoy alot of SC, just not TDEN, CM and Repentance.

Pretty much.

There you go.

I enjoy alot of SC, just not TDEN, CM and Repentance.
I for one have no problems with any of SC. I don't understand why everyone hates it so much..
???

I understand why people might hate Systematic chaos, but I still absolutely love it. :metal

Everyone doesn't hate SC so much.

Everyone doesn't hate SC so much.
From the comments about it, one could assume that it isn't very popular
-
I just don't like TDEN.TMoLS, ITPOE and Forsaken are my favourites.Others from SC are just good

The comments about it are read on the internet. Not even half of DT's fanbase lives and comments on the internet. I've heard lots of people (new fans, to be more specific) praise the album and think it's one amazing metal album.

Well I'm glad to hear it. thank you

Comparing the best and worst song on the album.
In the Presence of Enemies by miles.
-
ITPOE I > TMOLS > ITPOE II
There you go.
Yep
-
TMOLS is one of DT's worst songs. It's up there with You Not Me, Burning My Soul, Just Let Me Breathe, WDADU, and about 1/4 of SFAM.

:|
I personally wouldn't class it alongside Just Let Me Breathe etc. Burning My Soul, yes. But it's no where near as bad as You Not Me, I'd rank it mid-to-low :)
-
Best be trollin.
-
ItPoE p1 > TMoLS > ItPoE p2
however,
TMoLS > ItPoE

In your opinion ;D

Best be trollin.
He isn't. That's the way my man rolls.

In the Presence of Enemies is my 25th favourite Dream Theater song. The Ministry of Lost Souls is my 45th favourite Dream Theater song.
So, In the Presence of Enemies.
-
So much hate for such an intricate and beautiful song :sadpanda:
TMOLS made me fall in love with Dream Theater, its just so full of emotion and incredible melodies.
The acoustic bit at the beginning is just hypnotising
The vocal performance is fantastic
The transition from soft to heavy is powerful
The unison :heart
The final solo :heart :heart

Yeah this song is incredible, its right up their with the heavyweights for me.
-
TMOLS for me. The Reckoning just drags ITPOE down.
-
ITPOE 1 is good, TMOLS is alright, ITPOE 2 is awful. Not sure what to vote for :-\
-
I always throught ITPOE part 1 was the only decent song on the album.
-
flesh
-
ITPOE is pure :metal
-
Neither are amongst my favorites, but it's kinda like this way:
ITPOE I > TMOLS > ITPOEII
ITPOE I is promising and just great, TMOLS has nice intentions but the composition is just clunky IMO, and ITPOEII is just not the stuff I want to hear from DT, it probably is my least listened to DT track. I almost can't believe part 1 and 2 were supposed to be together. The reprise of JP's guitar theme from part 1, in part 2, just sounds unnatural to me.
-
I originally liked TMOLS better, but I've grown towards more ITPOE, so ITPOE!
-
ITPOE I > TMOLS > ITPOE II
-

This.
I'd give SC something like 6/10. ITPOE pt 1 is the only really good thing on the album.
-
I did my little 2011 ratings thingo today and being the nerd that I am ran some descriptive statistics on my ratings.
SC wasn't the worst album on an average basis, but when I ranked them taking into account the deviation in my ratings of individual songs it finished a distant last (behind even WDADU which has never clicked for me).
The problem that, in my opionion, it has is its got a couple of gems, many mediocre DT songs (but still awesome songs) and a couple of howlers (that are still great/greatish songs).
-
I've had to say TMOLS purely because...I don't know actually, I guess it just clicks a little bit more than, ITPOE. Both, in my opinion are great songs, but overall the story behind TMOLS grabs me more, it seems a lot more emotional.
Yes. I'm a lyrics nerd. And a story nerd. Don't judge me v.v
-
The Ministry of Lost Souls was one of the few things I liked about Systematic Chaos. It was a great song. What do people have against it?
-
Both songs are great, but ItPoE easily wins it. I'm a little surprised to see some people complaining about The Reckoning, that's one of my favourite DT moments.
