Title: Recommend me some Transatlantic
Post by: 2Timer on January 04, 2011, 03:32:32 PM
I know I can get on Youtube and see a bunch of their songs, but I also know that with band like this if I hear the wrong song first I won't like them, no matter how great they are.
So, how about it?

I'd say start with any of these:

Duel With The Devil
The Whirlwind
All Of The Above
Stranger In Your Soul

If you want just short, individual tracks I'd go with Out Of The Night or A Man Can Feel. My two favorites.

Suite Charlotte Pike for a shorter song or you can listen to anything already listed.

Short songs - "Is It Really Happening?", "My New World", and "Suite Charlotte Pike"
Long songs - "Duel With The Devil", "Stranger In Your Soul", "All Of The Above"

They've only got like 9 songs or something. Just pick one epic and one short one and you're good to go.

^True, but The Whirlwind is split into 12 tracks, so he can listen to some of the movements of that song.

Indeed, although many of the individual movements are pretty different from each other, but all still similarly Transatlantic in style.

And if you count "The Whirlwind" as a single track, then they technically have 13 original songs (4 on SMPT:e, 4 on BAF, and 5 on TW special edition). I know those TW tracks are more their original artist's songs with TA playing them, but I still count them. Besides, "Spinning" is as good as anything they've ever done!

it doesnt matter what anyone says. All 3 albums are 5 star material. Just pick one. Though i would personally go with BAF first, even though All of The Above, from SMPT:e, was the first TA song i ever heard.

When I approach something I firstly go for the most popular to get a feel, then I dig down to the beginning and go chronologically.

Just listen to The Whirlwind all the way through and then by the time it's over you'll want to listen to everything else they have.

Duel With the Devil is their best song, but honestly, I can't think of a song of theirs that would be off-putting.  It is like 30 minutes long I think, so if you're looking for something shorter and sweeter, you might go with one of these other fools' suggestions.

This, pretty much.  All three albums absolutely rule, so there is no wrong answer.
