So I'm back home with all my music stuff, and want to record a full cover with programmed drums. So basically just start recommending songs. The only real criteria is that the guitar parts have to be playable on a 6 string, bass parts on a 4 string, and not so insanely difficult that I can't play them. That means most DT is out of the question, cause even if I can play the guitar I won't be able to do the bass or key parts.
Also, I'm a really, really, terrible singer, but I'll do my best, and horribly embarass myself in the process. I'll also leave an instrumental version so if the song is interesting musically that's a plus.
Suggest away, I'm open to anything, even if I haven't heard it before.

Thrice - Night Diving
-
CKY - 96 Quite Bitter Beings
Just because it's my favorite guitar riff EVAR and I'd be interested to hear you do the vocals.
-
Blindfolds Aside.
You have to do the female vocals as well.
-
Queen's "The March of The Black Queen"
I dare you.
-

Trust me, you really don't. I like the riff though, so we shall see.

I'd totally do the vocals, not sure if I could do the bass (or even guitar for that matter)
Thrice - Night Diving
ooooh I like this idea.
Queen's "The March of The Black Queen"
I'd probably hurt myself trying to sing this.
keep 'em coming people, I might just do a poll to get the top two or three songs, and then do those, as I have all summer.

Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness
All of it.
I second this.
After you get that done you can start work on Edge of Sanity - Crimson.
-
Tenacious D - The Metal
:neverusethis:
Any Tenacious D would suffice, really.
-
Porcupine Tree- Trains
Incubus- Stellar
-
Jeff Buckley - Vancouver
yay!

I third this. Great song it is.

Sorry, it's not gonna happen.

King Crimson - Frame by Frame

Yes-Close to the Edge
Something you might actually enjoy: Devin Townsend Project-Hyperdrive!
-
King Crimson - Frame by Frame
This, or 21st Century Schizoid Man.
OR, with no keys but great guitar/bass: Tool - Schism

I'm going to suggest something completely left field...

If you can make that sound progressive or rocky or anything along those lines, I will give you my hat.
Which I will first need to buy.

Don't worry Arcaeus, this necessarily isn't a bad thing.
-
What about something from Up the Downstair?
Considering SW played everything himself (and it was early on in the PT-career), it should be doable? :P
-
Transatlantic - Stranger in Your Soul
-
Because I know you'll enjoy it and because the vocals aren't too demanding:
Smithereens - Behind the Wall of Sleep
-
Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
:hat
-
Björk - Human Behavior
-
Aerosmith - Dream On
-
Björk - Human Behavior
I say Cocoon, and he's not allowed to change the lyrics.
-
Nothing Else Matters
-
Bend it Like Bender. You have to do Anneke's vocals too.
-
We All Need Some Light
-
Great suggestions everyone (for the most part :P) I think I'll let it go a bit, and then just make a poll where I'll do the top two or three or something.

I actually played this live many many moons ago, though I didn't sing it, just the gee-tar. I might do this anyways, cause I don't think it would be too difficult to record (at least compared to Tool or King Crimson or some of the other things that are getting suggested here)

I've TRIED to get my band to do it, to no avail. We DID do Girl Like You for a while and it was awesome. I was totally loving it.
Make sure you get that good rockabilly-ish slapback echo on it. :tup
-
Queen - Somebody to Love. Fuck the poll, I want to hear you sing this :lol
-
No Paramore? I am disappoint.
