In my mind you can only short a share if you already own it, so could only short for a company you've already invested in, but I gather for the purposes of the game that's not required and it's just a case of picking a song you think won't do well. The entire premise of short-selling is selling something you DON'T already own.  Other wise, you're just "selling".

As for purchases, give me some Norchestration.  I'll leave it at that for this round until I see how this all plays out.

Yeah I mixed up my thinking. With short selling, you basically borrow a share, sell it, then buy it back later at hopefully a lower price so you can return it to wherever you borrowed it from.
