We have an open office and the booze was out everywhere. My boss (he admits to being an alcoholic) would keep all his empty whiskey bottles called the graveyard along his area of the bench. Had like 20 of them at one point before management made him discard them. Now his drawer is filled, if I do go into the office, come 5pm, he would gladly open the drawer and share. I'm not much of a whiskey drinker and feel super awkward drinking at work in the open office so I usually decline.
I don't care too much about it regardless as I don't work in the office, I do have a small bottle of vodka at my desk (sealed, more for display to have something in common with the office) but I mostly just like how they didn't just apply their global rules to our offices and to me that's pretty awesome. Shows they respect our culture here (which was supposed to be apart of the deal for buying our company according to the founder who sold it). I see quite a lot of people complaining in our chat rooms about it, but seriously? This is pretty cool you are allowed to store booze at your desk and if you want, bring your laptop to the cafe area and have a drink and work there.
