romdrums, stay behind me.  :lol

Guess that rules out my "send your favorite song that romdrums played drums on" theme then.  ;)

From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

As I have done thus far, I'm going to go ahead and post the themes, even though I'm still waiting on the fourth.

Round 7 Themes:

Group A: Electronic flavour. Doesn't have to be full-fledged electronica, just some beats or cool effects is enough

Group B: music with folk influences, it can be straightforward folk, indie folk, folk metal etc.

Group C: Mini Epic — Song has to be between six and eight minutes long and avoid a strict verse/chorus/verse/chorus format

Group D: Real strings and no guitars*

*A song may contain a negligible amount of guitars.

It was going to be a Moonsorrow song, but considering how everyone on this board seems to have their ears stuffed with wax when it comes to them, you may have saved me from another bad score.

No worries though I have another song ready to go now.

Actually I need to run the instrumentation of the song I'm considering by you.

The song contains lots of Violins and Cellos, but it also has a Chinese Lute. Would that be considered too close to a guitar for your theme? To be clear, there are no traditional guitars (acoustic or electric) in this song.

moonsorrow's production does sound like i'm listening to it through a layer of styrofoam yeah
not quite wax but

anyways the song i ended up going with is most reminiscent of my highest scoring song so far so i figure it'll get at least a 3.5/10

Lutes and mandolins and whatnot are fine, only guitars are banned.

I am not sorry for the theme chosen after I know I let the top two tank  ;D

Melancholia Hymns is definitely their best album to check out and I agree that the song works better in the context of the album, but I still like to listen to it as a single song.
I would have liked to send that album in the possible full album round, I compromised my plan now.

Dissociation would have been a good choice for this round, now I have to find another song that fits the theme.
