Hmm ok fair enough, that's a bit broader and trickier to define. So essentially a side project where the person famous from another band is the main songwriter/composer?

Also Seneca, did you decide whether there's any bonus for songs that hit all four themes? Might have a decent option... :P

That's what I'm going off, but if you don't have any info on who the ringleader of the circus is, just go with it as long as it's a side project. So like using examples from power metal 'cause I'm good with that... Lauri Porra from Stratovarius has his own thing that's much less known. Oliver Palotai has his Sons of Seasons thing. Tuomas Holopainen's Scrooge McDuck album even counts for this because it's not Nightwish.

Just pick any side project/thing that isn't their main gig I guess. I don't give a shit and I doubt seneca does  :lol

I sent a song by a duo, but since it also has a few brief moments where the percussion and keyboard is used (by the third musician, and very sparingly), I'm not sure if it would fit the theme. Gonna wait on Nelson's judgement, meanwhile gonna pick another song if this one is rejected.

Same as last time, I'm going to defer to Ruba's judgement.

Sorry, I think the theme is pretty clear cut and I allow no reprieves.

Yeah, Im happy to award 1.5 bonus points for anyone who satisfies all 4 themes. Dont spread yourself out too thin though, if thats what it takes.

And anyone who has already sent can obviously reconsider their choice in light of this new rule.

What about bands or artists, where all the instruments and vocals are done by 1 person, even though there are multiple instruments? For example, I have a number of black metal bands where all instruments are performed by just 1 person.

I should get the extra 1.5 points for meeting the criteria of all 4 themes. So....1.5 Bonus Points plus 3.5 points for the song...my score is...5!
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

That's fair, although it makes it trickier to find stuff. A lot of my singer-songwriter stuff still features bass and drums which disqualifies it from this round.

I'll try to find something else.

Okay, as I said in PM, I do not have a song to replace the one Nelson just banned, and I've got to run now. I will try to think of something but at the moment I'm not sure what. Maybe some one or two-musicians band will suddenly pop up in my head in the next few hours of travel.

Edit: alright, just sent a placeholder song for now, if I don't come up with anything better for the theme, I'm probably tanking in this round.

It could also be a song by a group that has more members. I.e. Someone Else? by Queensryche would qualify because it only has Chris's piano and Geoff's vocals.

Sent. Sorry for the delay, I am travelling and I was also trying to check all the four themes finding songs about passage of time by an artist to achieve that.

For the Dillinger Escape Plan I am sorry, you will not find other songs like that in same album. Symptom of Terminal Illness is all in clean vocals and part of Nothing To Forget, but they are different kind of tracks. I could make a list of songs as I did for Tomislav after I sent them if you are interested, maybe I still have it in my outbox.

First Impressions and Some Blank Spaces

I don’t like his voice or singing style so far, which is of the conversational variety that reminds me of artists like Ben Folds (no, I do not like Ben Folds)

I’m pretty sure I’ve heard this song before. Okay, not this song specifically, but close enough.

This piece built up toward more than I was expecting, especially when the flute entered

Soaring and emotional vocals — the comparisons you made are on point.

Dreamy, spacey, and not one of your better submissions

Run of the mill modern prog rock, albeit with a couple lovely moments

Not sure how much I like the black and white texture of this

Taken the theme to its logical, if perhaps extreme, conclusion. Why didn’t anyone send this last round?

Maybe a bit repetitive and angsty, but I think I might grow to like this.

A little impression of a song, barely enough for me to latch my teeth onto.

It seems my education was cut short! I found myself wanting to turn the volume up and sink into this immaculately constructed song

Tight playing, but not one of my favorite instrumentals of the round

Decent on first listen, but relatively sedated compared to some of your other submissions in this genre

This one felt very visual to me, like a wonderful sequence of scenes snatched from several different popular film genres

I’m pretty sure I’ve heard this song before. Okay, not this song specifically, but close enough.

There are traces of the “bigger” band from which this guy comes, but unlike the other submissions in this group, I think this song is a clear improvement on its predecessor

Well then, I'm back and given that I didn't have a chance to send anything to replace my placeholder song, it's fair to say Ruba got me with his theme. Fairly sure I tanked in this round. I have another song now that I had time to think about it, but oh well. It's unfortunate how such a difficult theme was applied near the weekend where I had absolutely no time to think about it (and the time that I had, I used to send Julien Baker which was banned). Let's see how this unfolds!

It's generous as hell for you to offer this but, well, no. What happened is fair. Ruba applied his theme, I had one choice and he prohibited it and then I had another song and you banned it and therefore I had to scramble and pick something else and it's fair. This is how roulettes work. The fact it was on weekend doesn't change anything. I should've had more options for this, and I didn't at the time. Everything stays as it is.

I mean, I still reserve the right to complain about it, but it's fair. :P
