Although I post here more frequently, I agree with you.

This. I saw that and was like :|

Agreed.  I wasn't taking any sides - 5/8 just isn't my cup of tea.  Ytse's comment is very well said.   :tup

I come here for structured semi-serious discussion. I go to 5/8 for unstructured, non-serious discussion (except the music section, they do pretty well keeping the spam to a minimum.)

I posted both here and at 5/8 for quite a while after the split, and still lurk there. 5/8 is barely-bridled insanity, joke racism, joke misogyny, joke homophobia, and pretty much anything goes. They love to ridicule DTF and call us boring. I finally stopped posting there after being told to shut the fuck up and go back to DTF. Yeah, I could "grow a thicker skin" but why bother? I'm too old to see the humor in every thread turning into a shitfest, and I don't look for new sources of annoyance.

...or any number of forums for bands and artists many of us like. :lol  It was a joke about the pace of this place, which is pretty laid back compared to 5/8.

Meh, I guess you were in a leave of absence or whatever.

Before the crash (probably the first one), we had a thread that was just post pictures to depict how each forum was. 5/8 was a wild fest full of... stuff. And DTF was more... calm. 5/8: Party DTF: Reunion. There were threads here and in 5/8. It was fun.

I used to go to a forum that was probably about as uncontrolled as five eight. I enjoy that kind of humor. That's my kind of humor. That's how my friends and I interact in person. But somehow, I can never really get into forums like that, and just end up lurking.

I used to post at 5/8 until like 07? Or something.

I realized their whole "be a jerk till it's funny" attitude as seeping into my normal life and I really didn't like how I acted. So I left the forum and have been better off since.

That's pretty much why I dislike that forum. Too many people there just seem like such jerks at all times. It's not my kind of forum, as I usually find myself a more polite, kind person. Or maybe I just think too much of myself. :lol

The one on 5/8 that gets me is the dogs that are jumping into the pool, and the pic they had for 5/8. Lemme see if I can find it.

Good call.

Thanks to most people for being welcoming to our 5/8 pals in their time of need. But really guys, get rid of Thal and don't let him back - you've got a good thing going over there apart from the ridiculous drama!

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.
