Two more things about The Foreshadowing. Nick, did you hear the EP they released last year? And for TAC, wolfking, or anyone else who hasn't heard them and/or was underwhelmed with that particular album, I notice on RYM it's the lowest rated album of theirs by a decent margin, so it's possible you'd like something else of theirs more. Their debut Days of Nothing has the best rating ratio.
I didn't hear the EP, actually - they are "leftover" songs, correct? I'll have to check it out. Days of Nothing is probably my favorite album of theirs. And yes, it's a little more "dynamic", so it might be (marginally) more of a hit
Today...
Man, Depeche Mode's Ultra...so many good memories. Such a good album. Yes, the first half has the "hits" and the second is much more intimate/less immediately appealing, but I love this version of the band. Incidentally, when I think of Paradise Lost and their Depeche Mode-influenced records (One Second/Host in particular), Songs of Faith and Devotion and Ultra really are where they got inspired, even more so than the 80s stuff. It's No Good, Useless, Freestate...they have a lot of that gloomy atmosphere (and the ending of Home, with the strings...I mean, PL might have built a song or two off that
)
Also, I was in the mood to revisit Slaughter of the Soul...still a classic.
And Tim - you kinda opened up a whole thing with Mega Colossus! I've been exploring their previous record and their are a ton of fun. Classic metal, yes, but with enough quirkiness to make it always interesting.
