Hm, so, yeah. That thing about Deconstruction being untouchable and nothing ever coming close to dethroning it as the best thing ever...

Well...

Had you never seen that before?

Down to Page 2?  Um, I don't think so.

From Devin himself on twitter today:

Last round with Epicloud before leaving on tour. It's beat my ass, but I have every intention of showing it the door today. Delivery weds!

Is that the Decon guy on drums? What an odd choice.

Also, as awesome as that was.........would have been so cool if the female singer was there and now just pre-recorded. That applies to Decon as well. Thank Xenu that Anneke was there, also the flutist from Ghost to handle the vocals.

Eh, Che wasn't a big enough part of Ki to warrant having her on the DVD, brilliant though she was. Dirk was probably the obvious choice for the drums, since it would probably tough to get Duris Maxwell to come out for it.

Besides, so much of Devin's live shows are pre-recorded that it's really hard for me to care. Everything sounds awesome.

I know, I'm just being nitpicky. I already ordered the DVD and got pissed off a few days ago when I had to remind myself that they're not out till June.

But lead vocal parts being all playback is just a bit of a let down to me. I'm glad Anneke and the chick from Ghost are going to be doing those two albums, but Ki and Decon would have been way better for me had all of the guest vocalists come in for the show. I've seen other bands have lots of guest stars for special shows. I just wish all of them could have canceled whatever they were doing to help Devy out. Cause let's face it, whatever they're doing is less important.

From Devin via Twitter:
Epicloud: Initially an 'in between' idea to bridge the 4 last albums and Z2...a way to satisfy my recent craving for melodic hard rock...

It became an epic experiment. way more intense and demanding than I expected. Experiments in all ways of making records. democracy, mix...

It's beautiful, melancholy, loud, and 'detached' in an experimental way...wanted to make something 'larger than life'...

Any way you slice it, it's beautiful... and even as an 'interm' idea, it stands unique among things I've done, and as something very special

Oh, and...it's freaking Epic!!

I'd say mixture of melodic parts of Ocean Machine, Rocking bits like Addicted, simplicity in parts like Accelerated, but more dynamic.

...And tried to mix it so you could crank it up.
I love beautiful things.

Having all of the Decon guest vocalists would have also added to the sheer over-the-top-ness which is displayed throughout the album.

Juno was an Addicted B-side, bro.

Honestly, I really don't care for Traestorz. It's way too long, and all the important/good parts were salvaged for The Mighty Masturbator.

This is truth.  Traestorz is probably one of the 5-10 best songs of the entire DTP.

Devin Townsend Project/Katatonia/Paradise US tour to be announced tomorrow morning/afternoon.

DTP and Katatonia will be co-headlining.

I'm pretty sure someone will post dates before I do, but St. Paul is confirmed.

Also saw/heard this Ihsahn track "Introspection" with Devin performing guest vocals. I'm not big into black metal but this seems quite cool with Devin blending his style in.  :metal

*EDIT* Now that I've had a couple listens this track is f'n AWESOME!!!!

Might be a silly question, but will Epicloud go under Devin Townsend Project or just Devin Townsend? Because from what I recall he only planned on having the 4 albums, but maybe he changed his mind to add more?
Seeing the DTP on the poster I guess that's an answer. :P
