Aviv is very underrated tbh, just because he works with SW, people that have no clue assume that SW writes all of the stuff. :P

This. Say what you want about his voice, but Aviv's down-to-earthness is a great counterpoint to Steve Wilson, who can be a little bit out-there and put experimentation before functionality sometimes.

They're a good combo for eachother because of that. If you have too much "out-there" going on, it can ruin a good thing.

I actually didn't know who wrote what in Blackfield, but just going through the wiki page almost all of my favorite songs were SW's.

And I'm not really sure where you're getting that SW is going 'out there' in Blackfield, considering the whole point of it was for him not to be.

Well, i'd say the combination of Aviv and SW is what makes the music so unique.
When SW writes music, it tends to have his mark all over it, but in this case i think Aviv adds something making the result unique and great.
It's kinda the same with what Tim Bowness adds in No-Man, which certainly doesn't sound similar to either PT or Blackfield.

True but IEM is only Wilson and it's just as distinct from his other projects which have other influences (members).

He's pretty much alone in Bass Communion too. He can be vvery focus on restraining homself sometimes, and just try and fit with the particular project he's working on.

Never said he was going "out there" in Blackfield. I meant as an artist he has a tendency to be out there, and it's good because Aviv and his involved in the project sort of reel him in.

I love how Wilson contradict himself on This Killer:

And I can say I know him well
And so can he, because it's me

My Gift of Silence is my favourite, closely followed by 1000 People, Hello and Pain.

Blackfield's title track is the only Blackfield song I've heard, and if I didn't know it was Blackfield you could easily convince me that it's PT. I can't pass judgment on anything else; I'm just saying that one particular song sounds exactly like PT.
Gadough isn't Hitler. He's much, much worse.

The title track is definitely different enough from any other PT pop song to confuse it with PT.  And Gadough, speaking of Blackfield, you need more of them.

Yeah I know. I'll get around to it at some point. The fact that I still have not listened to all of PT's studio albums in their entirety is kind of preventing me from getting into Blackfield.
