I agree, I think of it more as a lead that leads into the instrumental section.

I never really thought of it as a solo, considering that the guitars are much more up front. A solo to me has to stand out a bit.

Well, that's my problem with the mix....I care much less about JP wah-ing on a couple chords back and forth than I do about JR playing cool, fast lead lines....

And judging purely on The Enemy Inside, it think it sounds much, much better than ADTOE. I mean, the difference is like dream and day.

Well, thanks but i'm no mastering engineer by any means. I like to get my stuff as close to CD volume but without brickwalling or clipping.

I'm totally an amateur and I like Waveburner as it won't even let you export the songs if theyre clipped :)

Imagine if someone went to the party with some manuscript paper who was an absolute genius at transcription and write down the entire album as it happened - took it home and charted it out in Sibelius and uploaded it for us here :lol

Oh they did for sure. I'm pretty sure it's the standard thing having been on the boards for 3 releases now.

:zydar:

wait... nevermind
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces
