I don't listen to a lot of rap, mainly because I don't know where to start. Eminem never resonated with me, I hate how most of the music I heard from him is about dissing other artists and feeling sorry for himself for having a hard past. Came back in Kamikaze from the new album too and undoubtedly more songs on the album. But to each his own.
Personally I'm more into old-school hip-hop, a lot of which is instrumental. But one modern hip-hop artist that I adore it Tyler, The Creator. Has a very playful style of lyricism and also some super dark material. Does rap a lot about sex, but since he doesn't do any drugs at least that part of the 'sex/drugs/money' trope in modern hip-hop doesn't apply to him.
Goblin and Wolf are both good albums by him, and Flower Boy has its moments.
