I think Buffet is the kind of artist that you either give the benefit of the doubt to, or not. He's known for the dumb shit - Margaritaville, Fins, Why Don't We Get Drunk And Screw - but he's a phenomenal songwriter in his own right, and some of the deeper stuff is really insightful. I'm partial to "Son Of A Son Of A Sailor" for various reasons.
Yeah, my favorite Jimmy Buffet song is hands down He Went To Paris. That song is genuinely
heart wrenching. Growing up, I had my fair share of laughs listening to the classic comedic songs due to my parents, but they've all really stuck with me. Especially his more serious songs.
I'm not quite at Parrot Head level, but I do like Jimmy Buffett. Songs like Volcano, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Pencil Thin Mustache, and Fins etc, are a lot of fun to listen to and make you want to open a cold beer or a mixed drink. Great music to have when on a small party barge on the lake during warm summer nights.
As someone mentioned above, Son of a Son of a Sailor is one of my favorite Buffett Songs. What's really cool about Jimmy Buffett, is that he created his own genre. He's not country, he's not rock, he's just Jimmy Buffett.. 🌴
Exactly.
