Funny, I intended to try to get into Circus Maximus again (my first attempt after my previous roulette didn't end well) with maybe listening to the new album - I even have a promo sitting in my e-mail - but seeing all your reactions to those released songs... I think I'll pass.

Still worth a listen surely if it's not costing you anything.

Yeah, I did listen and wrote my brief thoughts in the band's thread. Pretty meh album IMO.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Another new Treat song;

This is a bit more like it.  Still not really up to the quality of the last one though.

Not too excited so far. It sounds like the same band, similar feel to the last one but lacking some magic dust. Maybe blasting the whole thing in the car will help. Worked with CdG.

Yeah........much better but missing the balls of CdG.  I think it's a good song but it could do with some of the beef in the guitars from the last album.....seems they are going for a more stripped back, slightly modern sound.   I hear more originality in this than anything on Nordic Union anyway..that's not saying much though  ;D

Only just saw this. Not sure if I'm interested or not. I don't mind Augeri era Journey (don't know what he sounds like now), and it's very local. Tickets are $46 though, which is expected here for some mid range names, but still a bit of money for what it really is.

Another tour that will struggle I would imagine.  Only diehards in Australia would know who the hell they are.

Yeah, hence the bundling together. But does anyone in this country know Kansas? I don't think Journey is near as well known here as in the US (I think when I saw them in 2013 was the first time they've toured here in 30 years if at all), and Steve Augeri is only known to diehards. The place they're playing here would only hold a couple of hundred people seated. It's a small time venue. It's where you'd expect to see washed up local artists from the '70s.
Recently I've been listening to plenty of Augeri, so I'm sorta interested though.

Will be interesting - and he is hardly "the voice of Kansas" either.  Perhaps the names Journey and Kansas will be enough to attract an unsuspecting crowd thinking they are seeing Perry and Walsh  ;D  And yeah - nobody really knows Kansas out here anyway.  A few metalheads might know Yngwie's version of Carry On My Wayward Son :lol

I would try and find some recent live footage of Augeri too - his voice was shot years ago but I believe he is alright now.  Would still try and check it out though.

If all the Tall Stories fans turn up in force they might sell a couple more tickets  :lol

The venue they're playing here doesn't hold many people, so at least they're aiming low. I can't see how it's even worth it for them.
I'm half interested in this, but there's no way I'll find anyone else willing to fork out the money to go with me. :lol

Does anybody of you listen to Rick Springfield?

I was kind of a fan in the 80s and have just heard his recent record Rocket Science. It's not bad, rock with a country influence and what you (or I) would expect of him. I could see me liking this even more after a couple of spins.

When I first heard about the country influences, it was a bummer, but after actually hearing it, I have too say all those instruments enrich the sound of an already wonderful production. Easily one of the best melodic rock albums of the last few years.

Ditto............he gets raved about a lot in the melodic rock community ,mostly by people who (these days) rave about a lot of stuff I don't like  :lol    I should give him more of a chance but have just never got around to it.

I did have a "best of" back in the 90's that was okay but made me think "If that's his classics........... :-\  "

Will check out some of his more recent stuff in the not too distant future.

Awesome Star Wars collection he has  ;D

I know that he always gets around 100% on mr.com and that's just silly, but I really like a lot of his work. He's not really famous in Germany and I thought maybe in Australia he's bigger.

Working Class Dog, Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet and Lving in Oz were/are favorites of mine. Rock Of Life was good too, the rest had some decent tunes. After Karma I lost track of him, but this new one is really good, if you're into this kind of music.

I like Jessie's girl but that's about it. Heard a modern rock album of his a few years ago ( might have had anger in the title?) and it was ok but not a fan.

Kind of what I was alluding too, but I really like both songs that have been released.  Laine sounds good.

  Laine sounds good.

He really hasn't appeared on enough albums that use his potential.  He's like JBJ with balls.

The same reason I can always tell your response. Just assume the opposite. :lol

So in theory we should have every Frontiers album covered between the two of us, right? :P

New Sunstorm song. Has this one been posted yet?

The song itself didn't grab me hugely on first listen, but I'm digging the style and production. Gonna keep an eye on this one.

I did t like the ted Poley track. I've never rated his solo stuff but love him in DD. His solo stuff always sounded "off, as though he was singing flat, but he sounds great in his day job.

Can't listen to the Sunstorm til I get home, but that's a very promising statement from you Blob considering the thread we are in.  :lol

And yeah, haha, even that Poley track I didn't really like either.  Makes Work of Art sound like Soilwork in comparison.

I actually agree with Blob regarding that Sunstorm song.  It's certainly not the strongest thing I've heard but the style, sound and production could lead to good things for the album.  Not sure where this song is placed but tucked away in the middle of the album would work well.

And Simone is becoming a guitarist I'm really interested in discovering more of, he's incredible and shreds amazingly here.
