I think I'll get Twilight In Olympus before that

that would be my recommendation

Twilight is so underrated. I think it's the best of their pre-V albums.

A Fool's Paradise is probably my third favourite SX song overall, so I definetely share the sentiment.

After a couple of days of listening to TDWOT, my rankings of the albums I have look like this:

1. The Odyssey
2. The Divine Wings Of Tragedy
3. Paradise Lost
4. V
5. Iconoclast

My ranking is:

1. The Divine Wings Of Tragedy
2. V
3. The Odyssey

(don't care much for the other albums)

Through the Looking Glass is such an epic song. The live album version (which is f´in awesome as well) is even better then the studio one....

A Fool's Paradise is my favorite song of SX. Makes me wonder why they didn't play it live more.

Paradise Lost is a pretty fantastic album :2metal:

And (in my opinion) so much better than Iconoclast it's not even funny.

Seven and The Sacrifice didn't really click with me until about two weeks ago, but now they are without a doubt amongst my favourite tracks on the album (along with Revelation, Eve Of Seduction and the title track). Seven's chorus is unbelievably awesome, and The Sacrifice is so damn beautiful :'(

If you can find it used, yeah. Great performances, but lacking variety. I love V, but half the album is played. They should have put some more older songs in their place.

Haha, it having mostly V songs and TDWOT is why I'm considering buying.

I agree, and Seven is my favorite track. It doesn't seem to get as much notoriety as it should.

Get it. It's worth the cost for the athmosphere and the audiance participation alone. Especially the longer songs are all better performed then the studio versions, imo. The climax in Divine Wings Of Tragedy is goosebumps inducing.....

After one listen to TIO I'm not really into it. I'm pretty sure that will change with more listens, but when it comes to pre-V albums, my first impression of TDWOT was a lot more positive. I think some of the melodies and song structures on TIO sounded a bit forced.

I'm going to have to pull that one off the shelf.  I bought it a long time ago on a road trip, blasted it in the car on the way home, and don't remember ever playing it again.  No real reason why--just never thought of it again.  I'm going to have to dust it off.

I looked for that CD for years and one day I finally stumbled upon it at Zia Records. After I bought it I've seen like 3 more copies there. Same thing happened when I finally found Iced Earth's Dark Genesis on ebay. Shortly after it was at Zia.

cuz ive been listening to them a lot lately, and ranking is what we do here:

TDWOT
Odyssey/V
PL
TIO
TDG
ICONOCLAST

don't really count the first album cause Russell Allen is too crucial to SX

New ranking including TIO:

1. The Odyssey
2. The Divine Wings Of Tragedy
3. Paradise Lost
4. Twilight In Olympus
5. V
6. Iconoclast

Twilight really grew on me, and if it continues to do so (still waiting for TTLG to click), it might eventually replace PL as my #3 :metal

Haven't listened to this band in a long time, but this is how I would rank their stuff.

1. Paradise Lost
2. Divine Wings of Tragedy
3. Twilight in Olympus
4. The Odyssey
5. The Damnation Game
6. Iconoclast
7. V
8. Symphony X
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?
LOOK AT THIS AWESOME SHIT AHHHHHH
