So with Parama's roulette coming to an end, I understand it's my turn. As with Chris before me, I have never conducted one of these (though I have lost quite a few as a participant!), so I apologize in advance if I do something wrong or out of the norm. For simplicity's sake, I am using Chris's rules (which used TAC's rules) as a template.
1. Going to try for 10 people (+/- depending on interest)
2. 8 rounds.
3. No eliminations
4. Scoring from 1-10 points per song
5. Submit by Monday Night, my thoughts and rankings posted by Friday night (unexpected work travel notwithstanding).
6. Submit your song however it best works for you, but so you know, Youtube link is BY FAR - not even close - the best way to do this. I have a Spotify login, but never use it, and I do have access to Apple Music if need be. I'll work with you, but while I'm not a Luddite, I do have my technical limitations.
7. If you are torn between 2 songs for a round, I will allow everyone to use a Wild Card, which means you can send two, and I'll use the best one. You can only use this Wild Card ONCE.

No banned list, per se, but you should know I grew up on 70's prog and 70's/80's metal. I am something of a completist; I love DT, therefore I have all the albums, all the live albums, the single b-sides and (I think) all the Ytsejam stuff. I think I have something like nine versions of "Rock and Roll All Nite" on my iPod. You should know that I am, above all things, a melody guy, and count the Beatles as my favorite band.
With that said, bands you'd be taking your life in your hands by submitting:
- Anything with Ritchie Blackmore on it.
- Dream Theater and all Mike Portnoy-related projects.
- Kiss and anything with an ORIGINAL Kiss member on it, except Peter Criss (but then again, you'd probably lose the round)
- I pretty much have complete catalogues from the following: Aerosmith; Alice In Chains, Beatles, Black Sabbath, Blackmore, The Cars, Cheap Trick, Phil Collins, Def Leppard, Dio, Dream Theater, Extreme, Fish, Gabriel, Genesis, Gov't Mule, The Dead, Maiden, Elton John, Priest (with Halford), Crimson, Kiss, Zeppelin, Marillion, Oasis, Ozzy, Pearl Jam, Floyd, Queen, REM, Rolling Stones, Rush, Scorpions (up to Herman Rarebell leaving), Soundgarden (and all Cornell projects), Billy Squier, Van Halen, U2, Yes.
Bands I want to get in to more:
- That power pop that made the rounds for a while: Jellyfish, Bend Sinister, The Tories
- Prog metal other than DT, Maiden or Rush, though you take your chances here, because vocals are important to me
- Like Chris, second tier and lesser known rock/metal bands from the 80s and 90s - think Zebra (but don't send Zebra, as I have all their records.)
You can take me literally; when I say "Priest with Halford", I don't own ANYTHING with Ripper. I love Marillion, but I don't have much from any of the individual members.

Round 8: Song over 8:00 minutes (but over 15, you're taking your chances...)
