Cool... didn't know First Signal had a release coming.  Will likely pick this up - got a soft spot for anything Harry's on the mic for.  This is on the soft end of my spectrum, but still good stuff.

Lately I've been buying some more AOR type music, not as much prog.  I recently discovered this band called Khymera.  Really great catchy songs.  Reminds me a bit of the band Survivor.

The album I picked up is called "The Grand Design"

Every track is a keeper.   :hat

That's a great album.  Make sure you pick up the one before it called A New Promise, just as quality when it comes to AOR.

Just got through The Defiants -  decent but disappointing.  Without the edge that they get from Laine's singing (and he's not quite as powerful as usual) and Rob's guitar (in places) it would be just another AOR disc.

It starts off strong but doesn't hold it and some of the melodies and lyrics in the back 2/3rds get cringeworthy at times.  Lil' Miss Rock'n'Roll is awful.

79% and I would need to be in the mood.    The first two or three tracks would be enough for me actually - best songs and best playing.   If I want a whole album of this stuff then Revolve and Marcello/Vestry are both clearly better.

I agree. I didn't go in with a negative bias (quite the opposite) but The Defiants in particular was painfully sappy.

Not played it yet. Wasn't too impressed with the tracks that were released. AOR by numbers.
The Treat is as you described it. Maybe should have called it a day after all.

I agree.  I have known Andrew since the mid 90's - I used to buy CDs from him years before the website existed (he got me into Ten, Harem Scarem etc....back then) . But yeah............I think the him and most of the guys on that site have lost perspective on what is good and what is cookie cutter crap.

I remember a friend of mine told me about that site and I thought it was a really well put together site at one point. I haven't checked it out much recently, though. I generally get my CDs from Amazon or sometimes Laser's Edge.

I used to hang out there all the time and made some good friends but in the last few years I've hardly bothered. You know which bands will score huge no matter what crap they put out and some of the old regulars, whilst being an acquired taste, made for some good heated discussions. Then a bunch of people who got offended very easily moved in and no different opinion or criticism was allowed.
It became not fun.

I'm pretty pumped for it too, hopefully.  Danger Zone was actually really solid.  With Johnny and hopefully Thorsten again, should be good.

I need to get a proper copy of the Hardline albums. I gave them a listen on Spotify and liked them, but I always forget about albums unless I have my own copy.

The only one I don't own is II, and actually I still haven't heard it.  From what the fellas on here say though is that I'm not missing much.  The debut is great, and the last two were very good.

I just pretend II doesn't exist.  It's awful.  Don't listen to it.

Hardline > Leaving the End Open > Danger Zone.

Their s/t is a Top 10 album of all time for me, personally.

Not too far from the truth - so long as Gioelli is still on the mic.

Interesting that an album can make Chad's top ten and he is unaware of its name  :lol    It's called "Double Eclipse",  David  :)

Me too, I've heard the rest, but the general dislike for II has kept me away.

Danger Zone was okay. Some good tracks, a bunch of filler. Yes, some Frontiers cookie cutter too. But the thing that kinda kills it for me is that it has one of my least favorite guitar sounds ever recorded. So bad IMO. Maybe they were trying to go for that sound that was on Double Eclipse, but fell way flat.
