First Apple Cider of the Year! Apple Cider appriciation thread
« on: September 13, 2011, 12:23:10 PM »
I went into Walmart yesterday to buy red pens so I could grade, and low and behold the first batches of this wonderful elixer were in stock.  I know the really good stuff doesn't come out until October and November when the single-breed stuff makes its way to the Farmer's Market, but the stuff at Wal-mart is almost as good.  I like this stuff so much I'll go through about a gallon a week just by myself.  I can't even drink apple juice because it just tastes like fraud compared to cider.

Appriciate bitches.

I prefer Laird's 12 year rare, but Clear Creek 8 year is almost half the price and pretty darn good.  Tough decisions.

Hard cider ftw. Hardcore, Hornsby's and Woodchuck (Dark and Dry only) are pretty swell.

Nothing better than a cup of hot apple cider. I got a batch at the apple orchard the other day. That and some apple donuts

I like the homemade stuff. Lots of that where I live.

Love the stuff, and has an infinite number of applications to cooking.

My favorite though, reduce a cup of it to a syrup, and fold into mayo, and use the mayo on pork sandwiches. :hefdaddy

I haven't had the stuff since I was a kid but I remember how delicious it was all heated up. Thanks for reminding me of it, I'll have to get some when the time comes.

I love the hot apple cider but it's too warm yet.  In a month will go hunting for Pumpkins and wrangle up us some hot cider partner.

I'm perfectly happy drinking it cold in this weather.

I like it cold too but there's something to drinking it warm when you can see your breath in the air picking pumpkins on a farm.

This stuff truly is glorious, and I was able to nab a gallon of it over the summer oddly enough.  As far as warm cider, I've maybe had it once several years ago and wasn't really a fan.  I'm perfectly fine with drinking it cold no matter the weather.

That sounds glorious!  :o With stuffing and some crackling that would be heaven on Earth!!

I have yet to try a 'flat' cider, I tend to drink the fizzy stuff albeit not the cheap strongbow style shit. I actually aquired a taste for Sam Smith's cider recently. Warm cider eludes me also.

I'll have to get on the case and try some!
