Holy shit this is all kinds of epic.

I would get this game -- it looks so goddamn incredible, and I enjoyed the 2-3 hours I played of the original -- but I'm awful at RTS games. Seriously awful.

Singleplayer has a much easier learning curve for all the people who are hesitant to play RTS games. The missions are scaled much better than in SC1.

Well should I bother without knowing the backstory of StarCraft (besides the basics: Xel'naga created shit, what the Zerg is, who Kerrigan is, etc.)? Story is important to me :P

I'm interested in this since I really want a new strategy game to play, but I'm not sure if my computer can run it. I'm above minimum but below recommended system requirements.
I bought it anyway. Haven't installed it yet, will do so in a min.

Awesome. Let me know your battlenet account name or whatever I need to add you :p.

I just played my first 1v1 match and lost big time :p. I've only played it for about an hour now, but I really like it so far. Protoss seem to be my favorite but I haven't really tried Zerg yet.

While installing the game, it gives you a brief summery of the events that happened in SC1. If you really want to know the story I suggest just going to Starcrat Wiki and reading the Brood Wars article they got.

Those Marauder groups man... It's fucked up.

That's what I thought, but the system requirements are surprisingly low. I don't meet the recommended requirements but can still run the game smoothly and with a good fps.

If it makes you guys feel any better, my computer meets the hardware requirements very very very very easily.

In fact, my crappy computer at work meets the hardware requirements.

So what's this bullshit I hear about a good and bad ending, with it being contingent on being the equivalent of Paragon or Renegade Jim Raynor? :tdwn

Just got my first win :caffeine:. He was a bigger nub than I am and tried to turtle himself in. 1 Protoss mothership + recall ability = destroyed base.

I never understood the way of the turtle, every race has a counter for it in SC.

Indeed. I've only played a couple of matches and I've noticed that turtleing won't get you very far.

Anyone up for a game?

I would but I want to beat the campaign on hard first. I need to work on my micro a bit more, the last two online games I played were extremely close. Came down to both of us running out of minerals and just rushing with the armies we had. Luckily I had two Thors to back me up.

You will beat me with no trouble :p. I still not sure what everything does. I almost never play campaign's in RTS games. Played the first 3 missions. It was okay, but I prefer 1v1 or 2v2 online matches.

The campaign gets a lot more fun then the first 3 missions. It isn't the typical, build a ton of forces then rush the enemy base style in the first SC.

Well I bought it shortly after I lamented wanting to buy it. WHOOO NO SELF CONTROL

Anyways, I've actually been enjoying it. I'm not sure if it will last, but it feels different then most other RTSs, and in a good way. I'm still getting a grasp of things, and right now I suck something fierce (I have yet to beat a medium AI), but I like it. YAAAAAYYYY

I have never heard of such a thing.

I've read around something about if Raynor accepts Tosh and Findlay missions instead of Horner and Hanson missions, it'll result in a good or bad ending, supposedly.
