JBoy 6 +2  Freedom Call  -Crystal Empire -  Quest (Jboy was the star of this round. What he sent was beyond my expectations... An outstanding band, amazing sound... I already like power as a genre and what Chad sent me could be one of my favourite bands! And, they have a very good Turkish bass guitarist as one of their former members - Ilker Ersin.

As for the video; breathtaking. The rhythm, headbanging, full engagement with the audience, mastery of the stage... so metal! It instantly made me want to go out and find a metal concert and rekindled my Wacken dream I haven't been able to fulfill for so many years... Awesome, in brief... Well done!)

DTVT -6+1  Evergrey - As I Lie Here Bleeding (Even though I have known this band, unlike Freedom Call, I don't seem to have seen any of their videos. Their performance is astounding! Amazing stage presence... What a strong kick off... with Jonas Ekdahl drumming with the audience transcending in the background... Damn! Ordered "A Night to Remember" right away... very well done Mason!)

WebRaider  6  Voyager – Lost (I’m soooo surprised… how can a person (with so little -if not none at all- idea about who I am and what I like) make awesome submissions three rounds in a row ? You shocked me mister….  that’s all I’m gonna say.. I’m shocked)  :omg:

Ariich – 6 Periphery - Jetpacks Was Yes (well another band that I know of but apparently haven’t paid enough attention… thanks for bringing them to my attention Rich… the video was quite rousing and after a quick search I saw that they have a lot of heavier stuff… very good choice to send me… )

Elite 6 - K3 - The End of Evolution (HELL YEAH! That was beautiful, man…. Awesome riffs… totally blew my mind… and those guys are on fire…. way to find sth that ladyobescure can dig a lot!)

boy_floyd   5.5 Dimmu Borgir - Progenies of the Great Apocalypse (horns up buddy) :2metal:

Ytse 5.5 Chimaira - Resurrection  (this was another successful entry.. Spider gave me something totally new…) :letam: :2metal: :metal

lonestar – 4.5 Tesla - Song And Emotion

yorost  4.5+1  Hiromi Uehara - Time Out (with her Sonicbloom band) (.. ha ha this Japenese chick is plain crazy…. And a Berklee graduate… love it… extra penny for providing me with a satisfactory background)

Kari 4.5 Sigur Rós – Hafsól (I’ve tried Sigur Rós many times but couldn't get into them.. but this video was pretty impressive with the atmosphere and the unconditional instrument handling.. cool stuff!)

Nekov – 4.5 (+1) Pendragon - ... A Man Could Die Out Here

Zantera 4 Anathema  - One Last Goodbye  (another band that I can’t get into despite quite a lot of shots.. but this video has what I asked for)

Dark castle – 4 Kvelertak - Mjod

dethklok09  - 3.5 Brand New  - Jesus Christ (it got better towards the end but it’s just not sth for me…)

Kingmesh – 3.5 Sarah Mclachlan - Fumbling Towards Ecstasy (appreciate the quality but not just for me)

-------------------

King in Crimson submitted Portishead - Glorybox (Live From Roseland NYC) to get his spot back in the game however.... although it’s a very impressive performance it’s not sth I would want to come back and watch again and again.. so it wasn't strong enough to let him back in the game… however if he sends me (us) a belly-dancing video .. he'll be right back in… and will gain 4 silver pennies for each round missed  ;D   :dammitnick:

Now on to the next rounds.....

will post shortly....

 :blush. Guess I chose wisely.

Freedom Call JUST released a new album last week. Haven't checked it out yet. I love their older stuff the most. Since Eternity, they've sounded pretty bland IMO. Crystal Empire and Eternity are awesome though. Start there.

Thank YOU guys....  thanks to this roulette, I'm giving another chance to the bands I normally wouldn't.. that's a win!

Anyway... I will prepare a table for you to easily keep track of the upcoming rounds... since I announced and will announce some themes in advance.... the only aim here is to let you manage your own time... The reason why I'm doing this is because some of you send me the songs right away and some wait until the last minute... with knowing the next round in advance you won't need to wait until the announcement of the new theme.. you'll be able to get down to business whenever you have some time on your hands.....

hope this makes sense...

anyway.. now I've got some errands to run.. will be back for the new themes right afterwards.........

Ok here we go....

Please feel free to ask millions of questions .... in style!

I've got no idea how many rounds I should run... Is there a rule? ... or what's the  tradition? we can basically skip 2 rounds and finish at 8... honestly it's up to you guys...

Ok. So we're down to 15 players?

Another open round now, but for the album review round, are you rating our review, or a combination of the review and the album?  If it's new music to you, I assume you want a track or two to listen to?

Ok. So we're down to 15 players?

Another open round now, but for the album review round, are you rating our review, or a combination of the review and the album?  If it's new music to you, I assume you want a track or two to listen to?

mmm ok .... let's make this clearer....

first of all... for this round, I'm not looking for something new.... (if you send sth new, that's a bonus... provided that I like it) if you want to play safe go for sth from my last FM...

since review write-up is a pain in the neck when you're doing everything from scratch, I'm guessing you might want to go for a band you like too...

regarding the songs... I'd like to hear the whole album... without hearing the whole thing, my experience would be incomplete... Under normal conditions, you don't need to send me anything.... I don't mind buying the albums (ITunes)  you review... I pay shit loads of money for music anyway... if I can't  reach them, then I might ask for help! BUT.. if you think that there are some tracks that stand out, please let me know... and either provide me with links or send me mp3s....

You're totally free in terms of style... if you want to do it song by song... cool... if you just want to give me an overall idea, that's fine too... you can send me an essay about why this album is special... why I should pay attention to it.... all is fine really....

regarding your rating question... well ... to be totally honest with you.. I haven't got any scientific method... I'll just go with the whole feeling... if you write an awesome review about a band I don't care about, the scoring might disappoint you... that's why you're allowed to pick a band form my Last FM.... so you might wanna pay attention to the genre.... and that's why I limited the genre with Prog and metal.... I tend to like pretty much everything....  and here's a clue: for me vocals are the key... I LOVE male vocals that seem to be in the female range....

I don't think it's very likely but if more than one players choose the same album.. I'll use the 'first come first saved' basis....

We're down to 15 players for now.. it won't be less but if an ex-player wants back in and satisfies my ears, they will be let back in....

Ytse, my dear, no worries.... this is just a game... I will take your special condition into account.. do what you gotta do.... and have fun in Florida... and give my love to Reaper and Jamesman if you happen to see them....

thanks for the good question Chad....
