Yeah, this seems strange to me. It's pretty much punishing those who were consistant the entire run. It doesn't effect me, really, as I'm tied for 4th in both rankings, but it still doesn't sit right. If any scores are dropped, it should be both the lowest AND highest. That way you're getting all the middle scores which would show more consistancy. Frankly, I don't know why scores are being dropped at all. But hey, it's not my roulette, and like I said it doesn't effect me!
If I was doing this all over again, I wouldn't have that rule. It was originally intended to encourage risk-taking, because I had this vision in my head of everyone playing it very safe and just sending stuff that they were very confident I would like (like a bunch of just straight prog rock/prog metal). I realized during the roulette that this was not needed to encourage risk-taking at all. However, I am still dropping the scores because I think it would be unfair to establish at the beginning that the lowest score would be dropped and then to turn around and not do that. I think it would have been unfair to, for example, Sacul, who took a risk and got a relatively low score in the first round, to turn right around and say "yeah, every score counts."
I understand being a little unhappy with the way things have fallen with regard to that rule, especially if you are Parama or ShadowNinja. But I'm not going to take back a rule that I said from the start that I would implement. That rule could just as easily have benefitted someone else.
And there's definitely still time to overcome Scorpion. There are 10 points to earn this round and then 20 points to earn in the EP round (because it's a collection of songs, it will be scored out of 20, as we decided would happen at the beginning). That's 30 points, though technically you could get perfect scores with bonus points, so there's a total of 31.5 points that you could conceivably earn in this roulette, out of a grand total of 105. So 30% of the total points are still on the table.
Pre-posting edit:
My planned EP is 30:04 in length. Damn.
Edit: or even 30:21 if I want to include a better ballad. Fuck, this is hard.
I cheated maybe a little tiny bit to get my EP under 30 minutes (the last minute of the last track is basically just the band leaving audio recording for a minute after the song ends, anyways... xD )
If I can hit the stop button at the 30:00 mark and not miss out on anything, I don't care if the video goes on for four more seconds.
Edit: And yes, now I have everybody's.
