Chelsea Wolfe - She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She

I followed her from a distance over the last few years but now I’m officially a fan. My album of the year so far, absolutely magical/dark/mystic stuff with productions that recall NIN, Portishead, Massive Attack and just its own vibe too really.

Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Dool - The Shape of Fluidity / new album by one of my favorite Dutch bands. A very well balanced blend of dark pop/rock, stoner with progressive, blues and shoegaze elements. Three guitar players and a near perfect mix create a great sound. They've made even more progression in the songwriting with some very catchy choruses even on first listen.

Ershetu - Xibalba / Progressive black metal inspired by Maya culture with a lot of traditional instruments. I gave it a listen on the description and the fact that Vindsval from Blut Aus Nord is involved in the project. No regrets, this is very interesting. Stumbled upon a review and discovered that part of vocals are from Lars Nedlund from Borknagar.

This is easily my favourite Enslaved album, and it's not even close. Just phenomenal stuff :metal

Dream Theater - Once in a Livetime

While reading the Lifting Shadows biography. I’ve basically ignored this while owning the CD since 2001.

Ha! That's an unusual pick...I'm saying this not because of its quality...it is indeed very good. It's just not one I see mentioned super-often. I'm not quite sure what my pick would be. Maybe Axioma, or Isa...

Amorphis - Tales From The Thousand Lakes

One of my all-time favorites. Just brilliant.

Just noticed that KOAN Sound dropped a new EP, Evocation and I'm currently spinning it. It's crazy how consistently good these guys are.

This is their 3rd album. The style didn´t change a lot over the years but they improved a lot in songwriting.
Both of the other albums are good. A few of the standout songs are Wolf Moon, Dust & Shadow, Oweynagat and their cover of Love Like Blood.

Just discovered these guys. They're local, had no idea. Singer is very Ted Leonard and they play a mix of Prog and Prog Metal. Keyboardist has been a long time student of Rudess.
