It's official. Blood clots in both lungs. Staying overnight in the hospital.

Hang in there, dude. Hospitals suck. But on the bright side, being at home with undiagnosed pulmonary embolisms would suck a helluva lot worse.

Do they know how they'll treat it yet?

El Barto, intravenous and then pills for 3 months. In 2001 I had to get shots and pills. Now it's only pills.

As to 'recovery time', it depends on whether its inguinal, incisional, femoral, or other. I had an inguinal 5+ years ago, and it took me three months before I lifted anything over 20 pounds, and I intentionally waited a full year before swinging a golf club. So don't believe the 'oh, you'll be fine in less then two weeks' crap. It's all conditional.
And your first 'deuce' will be a painful as hell.

I rarely ever come into this thread, but I thought that I'd check it out this morning.

King, best wishes. I've got a buddy in Western PA that has had some issues with blood clots over the years, and he's told me quite a few horror stories. I don't envy the discomfort that you're having to go through.

I had labored breathing. just walking I was out of breath. I have no pain but I knew something was wrong. So I got my butt to the hospital

Well, more bad news though I'm already getting the medication for it. When they did the echocardiogram they found that the left side of my heart wasn't functioning at full capacity. So now they got medication to work on a slower harder pump.

I was already on a diet. As with everything it's about moderation but the big thing for my heart is sodium. We haven't used salt at home for 3 months. No deserts at home. I'm already down 33 we just started too late.

Now. I can't have bacon.

Clots yes in both lungs. Then they saw the left side of my heart was not running at full capacity. Stress test in two weeks and I'm on meds for it.

BTW, I'd love to figure out a way to shed 33 pounds that did involve a bunch of mind numbing exercise.

So far it's changing how we eat and walking but I need to get to the point of hard exercise. I'm not there yet.

Well, the last 24 hours wasn't exactly what I'd call 'pleasant', but it was no where near as difficult as I was expecting - or had heard what others' experiences were. The worst part was trying to choke down round 2 of the meds at 4am this morning.

Just got back, ate for the first time since yesterday morning, and am now going for a nap. Otherwise, feeling tip-top.

As for working out - I love it. Weights, HIIT, cardio, anything. I have a pretty decent setup in the basement, and that gives me time to watch concert DVDs, or double-dip on non-wife activities and watch hockey games while working out. I also have a membership at the local college athletic dep't - $250/year, and they have all the equipment I want/need that I don't have at home. I probably hit that place 2x per week, and workout at home 2-3x per week.
