Sidebar while we're waiting for Parama to eliminate me from the final EP round. I'm thinking of hosting a roulette myself. I know the rules/requirements are here for a reason, presumably time tested, but I've not been part of many roulettes, so help me out a little. Assuming I did one, what are your thoughts if:
- I didn't have a "banned list", but you submitted something I was intimately familiar with at your peril?
- I did, say, 8 rounds, but each round was a genre or themed? Too much work for you, the submitter?
I'm trying to avoid a roulette where you're guessing what I might like. I know what I like, and for the most part, I seek out that which I want to hear (and generally avoid that which I don't). I'd rather be surprised by something. I'd rather let you show your creativity. For example, I'm HUGE into Purple, I know everything that Blackmore has put out (including the Renaissance and a lot of his early session work) but I couldn't sing you an Ian Gillan tune if my life depended on it. I don't want you trying to convince me that growls are great, or that Bob Dylan CAN sing, but if you think there might be an example of either that isn't the run-of-the-mill tropes from the genre, that'd be something you might take a chance on.
Any thoughts? Am I asking for trouble?
