In the last period I found myself being drawn to Under A Glass Moon a lot more than I am to Take The Time. I even started questioning myself: "Do I really still like TTT more?" (the song is in my top 10, while last time I made the list UAGM was somehow in the top 20). So, I decided to settle the matter once for all and broke the two songs down into 13 comparable categories, and then casting a vote for each. Here's what I got:

I've always held UAGM just above TTT. Both are awesome, but UAGM feels special to me.

I think UAGM is an awesome song, I really do, but TTT is my favourite song from IaW, and is just perfect. So I go with TTT without hesitation, but UAGM is a worthy competitor nonetheless.

Under a Glass Moon, along with Surrounded, is my favourite song off of Images and Words, so naturally I like it more than Take the Time, which is still a very enjoyable song.

Take the Time. UAGM has a better chorus and guitar solo, but TTT is overally better.

Reading all those (varied) opinions is very interesting, but I would be happy to see someone rank the songs basing on the loose categories I implemented. I don't know, it would be fun to see who and how many like this or that section, or what are the leading opinons on the lyrics, or the impact the songs have in the live environment.

We've had more than enough simple battle threads, I believe it's time to spice up things

I give everything to TTT except for mellow section and lyrics.

To me, UAGM is almost a perfect song. I don't like the rappy intro to TTT, and the album version of the guitar solo is nothing to write home about while the UAGM solo is IMO on of the greatest solos ever. FWIW I also like James'vocals better in UAGM.

But . . . like everything on I&W, TTT is still awesome.

Sorry to be boring, but I'd give Take the Time the edge in literally every category. But then, it's my favorite Dream Theater song, so.

I might do a section comparison later today but Take the Time for me definitely. It's just such a amazing mix of styles and of course so many different endings live. I love Under a Glass Moon's guitar solo but just the way Take the Time flows is just so great.

Not if at least 251 seconds of Under A Glass Moon are better than an equal amount of seconds of TTT.

Both brilliant songs. 3rd and 4th ranked on Images for me, but I definitely prefer TTT.

UAGM solo is better and I think I prefer it's lyrics, but aside from that - TTT all the way

I prefer the studio version of UAGM, though the live ending solo pushes TTT past it. I feel the best version of both is on the LiT DVD, by the way--James' singing adds a lot to both there.

Both have good lyrics but I'm inclined to say TTT wins just because of the following

This. I was going to do a section comprarison, but it's pretty pointless since TTT wins every single one, with the exception of the guitar solo.

Take the time is great, but there's something so mystical and weird about Under a glass moon, it's probably the lyrics. It was also a remarkable show opener. So I'll have to go with the latter.
