A couple of recent, classic metal-oriented albums:
Both very enjoyable. Tyr continue to be more in a power metal vein rather than the less immediate folky/doomy/epic approach of their earlier records. This one is a little more symphonic, though, and it's all pretty good. Stormborn are from the UK, and the album at times sounds like a power metal version of Maiden. It's speedy and crunchy - the one-two of Dawn Will Come Again and Out in the Weird, in the middle of the album, was especially tasty.
Then also:
The Wilderun was inspired by the brief discussion in the Opeth thread. Great album. And the Iotunn EP ("The Wizard Falls", this is before Access All Worlds) is very good too. More "classic" than "extreme" metal (also different vocalist) compared to the first album proper, and also more riff-based. Highly recommended.
