So I was looking at the DT website to look at the pricing to do the Meet and Greet session...
Holy shit, $280 to meet Dream Theater?
Is this so? Are my hopes of meeting the band to be dashed unless I can find a way to budget $300 for myself? I saw in another thread that the gold VIP also gets you meet and greet. Is that true? Because that's nuts, that's like, Tool levels of overpriced.

It was even more in Australia. It is a shame, especially since this does NOT include a concert ticket.
But other acts charge a lot more. And DT are worth it.

When I did the M&G in 2007, it cost me $300 (in the States), but that also included a front row seat to the show. It was worth it for me.

I paid $250 for 8th row at the SCORE show and didn't get to meet the band.

The way I see it is, its free enterprise and no one is forcing anyone to pay anything. I wouldn't ever pay that to say hello to a stranger but some are thrilled for the option.
Back when I grew up bands did not do this. Imagine being able to meet The Who, Led Zeppelin, or Pink Floyd if you forked up cash. Many would have done it.
I paid 70 bucks a ticket to see Neal Morse (my wife's hero) with a meet and greet. It made her year! But we only did it because it was super cheap.

Yeah, if I got an awesome seat with it I'd be down for it.
