I haven't see any of the films (nothing against them, just never had the interest), but that opening weekend... Holy shit!
Before it even hits its second weekend, it's already at over $678 million worldwide.

Saw it last night. Pretty good movie. I feel like Ron and Hermione never talked, though.

Very surreal feeling when it ended. I literally felt like in that moment, my childhood was over.

Absolutely fantastic rendition. The Battle of Hogwarts was better on the screen than I remembered it being in the book. They did a very clever thing by dedicating half the film to it. Most adaptations of books - Harry Potter very much included - seem very scant on detail. It feels rapidfire, there's not enough time to build the world. The Battle of Hogwarts, however, felt - if possible - even more detailed than the book. There were a couple of things they missed - no centaurs, Trelawney not dropping her crystal balls, and I am very frustrated that they left out the Carrows almost entirely - but the added detail was so rich and so in-keeping with the books' style that it felt like we were seeing the bits the book left out, when it's usually the other way around. (All the love in the world for Seamus and Neville detonating the bridge!)

Possibly the best film in the series. It tells its story better than PoA, but I've not seen Part 1, so I might be missing some context.

(On the other hand, that does mean that I can be a lot more objective than I might otherwise be. I'm rating Part 2's strength's on Part 2's strengths, so that's good.)

Oh, one complaint - how shit was Harry and Ginny's kiss? (Although on the other hand, just a few scenes prior, check out how faithful that Chamber of Secrets was! So you know. Swings and roundabouts.)

i Saw it last night.  I was very pleased with the movie.  Good action.  We got to see the other side of Severus Snape which I liked.

Watched this last night. It was only the second film I've seen of the series. A fitting end, and I preferred some of the changes to how it was done in the books actually.

I really liked how the horcruxes whispered to Harry...a lot quicker than spending 45 minutes trying to go through the Room of Requirement.

So I finally saw this the other day.  Liked it.  I'm not really a "movie person" but I've seen all of the Harry Potter movies on the big screen, just because they're usually a good time, and this was no exception.

Sorry, nothing deep to add, nothing that hasn't been said many times already.

So, I've taken to reread the books, and every time I'm done with one I watch the movie of it.

Man, Daniel Radcliffe is not a good actor.

He gets better through the series, but still not great.  It could have been worse though, picking someone at that young of an age to carry a series for a decade.

It could have been worse. Chis Columbus allegedly wanted an American actor to play Harry.

I arrived at the Order Of The Phoenix now, and boy, the end is just so incredulous. Like, from the point where Harry has the vision of Sirius being tortured, they first walk into the forest with Umbridge, and then fly with thestrals to London. It takes the train half a day to go from London to Hogwarts. It is totally unbelievable that they would fly for hours to the Ministry of Magic.

One of my biggest gripes about the HP movies is that they left so much out of the later books, but Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 really is great.

Obviously I know you can't include EVERYTHING, but I actually like some of the changes they made to move the story along a bit.

I particularly liked how they made it so that it was Luna who suggested to Harry that he needed to search out someone who was dead to find Ravenclaw's lost diadem.  (I also loved how they had her yelling at him to make him stop and listen to her).

As was also mentioned, I liked how Harry could "feel" or "hear" the horcruxes when they were present, it was great for moving the story...however, I was disappointed by how they showed him finding the diadem- because when he went into the room of requirement to hide his potions book in The Half-Blood Prince, he actually handled the thing when he was trying to mark the place where he'd hidden it so that he could go back.  When he has this epiphany in Deathly Hallows- it makes it easier for him to find it.  But that really is a rather minor complaint.

Another gripe is the final battle with Voldemort.  It was definitely entertaining, but I personally loved how, in the book, they circled each other as the sun was rising with the entire cast/wizarding community surrounding them, spelling it out for each other and revealing the whole story to the world at last- Snape's vindication, WHY the Elder wand didn't actually work for Voldemort, how by Harry presenting himself for death, thus cast the same charm over everyone that his mother's sacrifice cast on him.

And finally, another sort of minor gripe- in the book, Harry repaired the holly and phoenix feather wand with the Elder wand.  I loved that they had Harry destroy the wand, but I wish they'd shown him repairing his own wand first.

But oh my god, the scene where the professors start casting the protective charms over Hogwarts...

It is one of my favorite scenes in any movie, ever.  Absolutely beautifully done, and the music is so perfect.

1:12 mark really starts it...1:53 gives me chills...

I never read the books. Not a big fan of the first few movies, but 'Goblet of Fire' is okay, 'Half-Blood Prince' is mostly good, and the last two are really great.

I've never read the books and likely never will.  Can you expand upon this?  I thought that the scene in the movie was interesting, but not the powerful, dramatic climax that it should have been.  To learn that there was more going on than movie viewers saw makes me want to know what it was all about.
