If any album needed a remaster it'd be Morningrise.
remastering wouldn't do much of anything (besides implore ignorant fans into rebuying records they already own). Orchid and Morningrise need full on re-mixing, if not re-recording; starting with crap usually always ends up in crap, but if they had the presence of mind to record the guitar direct in addition to their amped signals, they could easily reamp the guitars and bass and get much better tone out of them. other things would need serious studio work or re-recording (acoustic guitars, drums), but it could all be salvaged if the guitar tone can be saved. otherwise, re-recording would be the only way to make the album production style match what they've done from MAYH onward.
thing is, i dunno if they need it. though i'd love to hear "To Bid You Farewell" without acidic guitars ripping at my ears, there is some bizarre magic to the mood of these records, and the production is a gigantic informer of mood.
