I'm now reading The New Testament Code: The Cup of the Lord, The Damascus Covenant, and the Blood of Christ by Robert Eisenman, the follow-up to James, The Brother of Jesus.

I'll see you again in a couple of months.
I was right.  That was posted on February 7.  I just finished it this past Sunday (April 25).

I am now re-reading The Hobbit as a precursor to re-reading The Lord of the Rings.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Oh I think I'll start re-reading it too, it's been a while.

Well I've been reading The Two Towers for over a year now... about bored me to death and couldn't get past chapter 3. I've also been reading The Lost Symbol for about 5 months now. It's very hard to find time! GAH

Lots of school books. One is called The New Work of Dogs and takes place in Montclair, NJ (weird coincidence that I got assigned this for school in CO after moving from NJ :lol) and I'm enjoying it. My Human-Animal Connection class is very interesting, but a lot of readings are about abuse and make me :(

Right now I am reading The War of the Dwarves by Markus Hietz, its not really well written, but I'm reading it because I read the first one. Up next I have to decide between about 20 books I need to read, but I'm leaning towards The Demon Awakens by R.A. Salvatore or Flight of the Nighthawks by Raymond E. Feist

I'm reading "The Enchantress of Florence" by Salman Rushdie.  Have wanted to read this for awhile.  Now that classes are winding down, I'm finally getting the chance.

I really wanna read Dune. I heard it's good, and "To Tame A Land" is based off it, as well as Sacred Oath's forthcoming album. That means it must be very  :metal .

Finished Stephen King's Under The Dome recently, which was really good. Now, I'm finishing up Fool by Christopher Moore, which is a humoruos version of King Lear from the Fool's perspective

Okay, I'm giving up on The Sound And The Fury. I just have to put the book down after reading Benjy's' perspective for a while. I know it's purpose, but it's damn annoying and there plenty of other good books to read. Recommend me some classics?

Currently reading Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.  Great book.
I would've enjoyed it more if it wasn't read for English class and I wasn't forced to look into and analyze every single fucking detail of it and write papers on it. That kinda stuff always takes away from my enjoyment of a book I'm reading. For Frankenstein, we just need to  list 10 important quotes and their explanation, so it's easy to read it normally and not being distracted by assignments.

You should come back to that book after you haven't read it for a while, do it for leisure, and see how you feel.

That book is a classic, and should be enjoyed by everyone

The problem with high school english is that they force you to read "classic literature", analyze the shit out of it, and then expect you to like it. I loathed The Scarlet Letter. Not only was it the most boring piece of lit i've ever read, but writing essays on it over and over again just killed any chance I might reread it in the future

There really needs to be more Vonnegut in high school

Actually, our class is reading it for English too.  I don't bother doing the study guides that make you over analyze the book, as I know it would suck the enjoyment out of it.

Here's my favourite quote:
A human being in perfection ought always to preserve a calm and peaceful mind, and never to allow passion or a transitory desire to disturb his tranquillity. I do not think that the pursuit of knowledge is an exception to this rule. If the study to which you apply yourself has a tendency to weaken your affections, and to destroy your taste for those simple pleasures in which no alloy can possibly mix, then that study is certainly unlawful, that is to say, not befitting the human mind. If this rule were always observed; if no man allowed any pursuit whatsoever to interfere with the tranquillity of his domestic affections, Greece had not been enslaved, Caesar would have spared his country; America would have been discovered more gradually; and the empires of Mexico and Peru had not been destroyed.

Fellowship of the Ring

I read that one and found it a bit dry. Tolken really drags on with detail. When I finished that I moved on to Two Towers, read about three chapters and haven't touched it in over a year...

Oh that's such a good book, really sad though. We watched the film in English and half the class were in tears by the end.

It kind of reads more like a history book for school than a novel to me, I think thats the problem. I'm sure I'll go back and finish out the series at some point though!

I know what you mean actually, but it's the way he describes everything in such detail that really sucks me into those books. It's definitely worth going back to  :)

I'm finishing Frankenstein by Mary Shelley tonight. I have one chapter left, and it was definitely one of (if not my) favorite school books.

:lol Sorry, I just can't get into them at all. Yes there's this amazing world and an epic story, but I really don't need a paragraph describing a doorknob.

I just finished up four books in the last two weeks:

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya by Nagaru Tanigawa
Me of Little Faith by Lewis Black

Now I just need to finish Maskerade by Terry Pratchett and I will be caught up on all the books I've bought/borrowed from the library recently.

...my name is Araragi.

But it's that paragraph that lets you picture the doorknob so clearly in your mind! Anyway it's not just 'cos I like descriptive passages, it's the sounds and flow of the words he uses that makes it so enjoyable to read.  :D

Yeah, I can totally see why people would enjoy it, it's just not a writing style that I like.

Anyways, I really wish I could read more. Unfortunately the university library has very little in the way of fiction, and books are way too expensive to buy :sadpanda:

Well I have no car, so I think the closest library would basically involve a bike ride that would take a good portion of the day to go to and back (and I'm not sure if I'd even be able to get a card for it because it's a different county).
