Started reading Wolves of the Calla two days ago, already 521 pages deep into it! Suffice to say I'm loving it!

At times I've been struggling with Wolves of the Calla, it's picking up a bit now though. I'm a pretty slow reader but there's no way I'm not finishing this series.

There's only been one part where I went "well this is getting somewhat stale", but I've really enjoyed it so far. In contrast to Wizard and Glass, which I find that it's a bit of a chore to get through.

For me, actually it was a toss up between Wizard and Glass and Wastelands for my favourite for a bit. I think Wastelands edges it out though. I'm a bit over half way through Wolves, and like I said it is picking up, so I'm looking forward to reading it more.

I've been reading The Passage by Justin Cronin for what seems like months.  It just hasn't compelled me to keep reading.  I might take a crack at Under the Dome next.

Finished Old Man's War by John Scalzi.  It was... decent.  Some good, some meh.

Started rereading The Great Hunt by Robert Jordan.  Hoping to reread the entire series and finally finish what I started reading 10 years ago in High School. Dunno if that will happen, but I'm going to try.

Depending on your opinion on metafiction, things are about to get a lot better, or worse, in that regard.  :lol

Now that A Memory of Light is out, I'm giving the last three books of the Wheel of Time series a read, to get the whole ending thing done properly. About 100 pages into The Gathering Storm atm.

What they did has a bit of a Deus Ex Machina feel to it, I just hope it doesn't go that route.

I'll warn you now then: there is one, ONE case of Deus Ex Machina in the next two books. But it almost comes across as King doing it with a knowing grin because he's written himself into this corner. It shouldn't hurt your enjoyment of the series though.

My sister finished recently after six years. And now she's forcing me to read all the books, I've fallen out of fantasy but I will give them a try... what's the worst that can happen.

I can't decide between Under the Dome or 11-22-63.  Any suggestions?

I personally thought 11-22-63 was quite a bit better. Under the Dome is also a fun read though.

Thanks. Moments after I posted, I started to read 11-22 and it hooked me right off the bat.  Already on Chapter 3.  It seems to be a very fast read.

Not sure you saw my posts above, but I recently finished the series and am glad I never gave it up.  Unlike so many other series, this ones pays off big time in the end.  With the conclusion, it is firmly up there as a favourite fantasy series of mine.  Martin keeps sliding a little on me.  Bakker is already my favourite, Martin had better go out in style to fend off Jordan.

When you get to the big monologue toward the end (you'll know it when you see it:  60+ pages of monologue), feel free to skim over it.

Just finished reading two books:

Michael Connelly - The Fifth Witness - Good, but nothing amazing. Told well and a great main character, but the ending was very predictable.
Paolo Bacigalupi - The Windup Girl - Amazing. One of the best dystopian novels that I've read.

Yep. I really enjoyed that book as well.

Wonder if he's gonna write a sequel or not?

I don't know, I think it works as a stand-alone as well, with the open end and stuff. Not everything needs to be brought to its end by the author.
