Ok. I'll play.

The basic format of the class is that local bands/artists would come into our class for three consecutive weeks (three hours per class session). The first day we recorded basic tracks. The second day we recorded vocals and overdubs. The third week we did the mixing. It was all done on a 24-track board and recorded on 2-inch tape.
Toward the end of the semester, the instructor got the idea to have some of the students in the class record a cover of a song and make it sound as close to the original as possible. Although most of the musicians in the class played metal, we started out with a Smokey Robinson song (I don't remember which one). The drummer had problems with not rushing the beat, so we suggested doing a song that we were all comfortable with and picked The Trooper. After doing the audio recording, we went to the instructor's studio to record this video. The video is REALLY 80s and very cheesy. It's also poorly synched, but I always get a kick out of watching it, and I've always been really happy with the audio recording (although it really doesn't sound much like the original).
By the way, I'm the bass player (who also got the audio production credit). And NO, I did not always use that much Aqua Net!
