I wouldn't personally have interest in seeing a DT show where a bunch of random singers are singing a bunch of JLB's parts. Plus, I don't think DT has the stage presence/personality to make that kind of presentation work.
Agreed x2
Agreed, and to add, I don't think JLB had the personality to make that Ayreon live album work either (in terms of being a lead in more of a theater show, than just his vocals). I have that blu-ray and have struggled to watch it due to the theatrics being very cringe.
Me too and I enjoyed the acting. I do not compare this live show to any sort of theatrical theater show. This is compared to the Wall live for me. In the band plays the music, but the concept is brought forth by props and visuals, the visuals including the acting to compliment the dialogue of the characters. I think it's great and enhances the purpose of the characters. Like how each of the singers surround JLB and circle around him while singing directly to him, it represents the voices of the emotions that swirl inside our own head.
I also found it great how he included three new characters specifically for the live show. The Doctor, The Nurse, and The Mother, each with their own sung parts in the reprises, and the change of lyrics from an emotion character/the wife/best friend to be sung by one of them. Such as the first sung lyrics to Day 10:Memories being sung by the Doctor instead of The Best Friend and the next being sung by The Nurse rather than the wife.
JLB's performance in this production proves to me that JLB would be perfect to sing the Narrator or even Ahrys if they were to have done something similar to The Theater Equation with different vocalists. As a matter of fact, Marcela would be awesome to have on as Faythe.
