Round 1
Player: Windmaster
Artist: *shels
Song: Butterflies (On Lucy’s Way)
Review: Some nice post rock here. The intro is very soothing and sweet and I enjoy how it suddenly transitions to a more intense atmosphere right after that. Overall I think it’s very well crafted and it flows quite well. That is until that big silence in the middle. At that point the song comes down for me because I feel like they extended the song unnecessarily. What comes after is still pretty nice but the mood is gone by that point. I will definitely check this band further.
Score: 5
Player: Shadow Ninja 2.0
Artist: Keldian
Song: The Last Frontier
Review: Man you weren’t kidding when you said this song was cheesy
but then again, most power metal tends to be like that and it’s part of what makes it fun. My favorite part is by far the chorus, the voices merge very well and create a nice harmony. As much fun as it is, it still lacks something special but I think I might check some more of these guys.
Score: 5
Player: UMH
Artist: Rishloo
Song: River of Glass
Review: I liked this song but the flow doesn’t seem right. I started listening and enjoyed the instrumentation, the singing is not my favorite but still goes quite well with the song. But again, there were some points where the song seemed to change too drastically and lost the nice vibe that was generated.
Score: 3
Player: Zantera
Artist: Amplifier
Song: Extra Vehicular
Review: This is a hard song to rate. I listened to it a couple of times and each of them I got a different vibe or a different feeling. What I like the most are the transitions from calm to intense and during those intense parts I was able to enjoy the melodies a lot more. I feel the song is too long for it’s own good cause even though it varies, it’s not able to keep me interested all the way.
Score: 4
Player: Scorpion
Artist: Tetrafusion
Song: Spider Silk
Review: It’s amazing how the soothing intro becomes this intense and technical song so smoothly, but as with Zantera’s song, there are parts that I absolutely love but some others just feel flat and uninteresting and manage to break the nice mood. Special props to that guitar solo, really nice variations and very little overplaying.
Score: 4
Player: MoraWinterSoul
Artist: Cloudkicker
Song: Dysphoria
Review: I like when I hear a song where you can tell that the band is achieving exactly what they were looking for because everything seems to be very well placed. This song is metal as fuck, with some powerful ruffs, enjoyable melodies and a good drumming to back it all up. I want to listen to more of these guys
Score: 6
Player: King
Artist: I Mother Earth
Song: Soft Bomb Salad
Review: THAT BASS! This song perfect in every aspect, everything flows the right way, the instruments merge perfectly together, the song changes and never falls flat, the singer seems to understand the mood at all time and again, THAT BASS! I wasn’t able to stay still while listening to this song. You better keep up with this level king.
Score: 7
Player: Lolzeez
Artist: Harmonium
Song: Vert (Si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison)
Review: The intro to the song is very sweet and soothing with the song building up slowly and very nicely. The bass is really interesting and groovy and overall they are able to create some great melodies and it’s obvious that they know their prog but as with other songs, it’s not able to maintain the mood and at some points it becomes uninteresting.
