That's like the most unsurprising DTF top 10 ever :lol

I want to agree, but I'm really surprised that Pain of Salvation isn't in the top 10.

And the fact that Ghost is over Deconstruction. But other than that yeah it's pretty typical.

Not surprised by how well DT and TDH are doing.  Kinda surprised that Ghost is ahead of Deconstruction.  Surprised that FtM almost cracks the top ten.

:lol I know, it's cool. I was just making the point that tastes differ.

Yes, and many of the tastes expressed in this thread suck.

I'm sorry we aren't enlightened enought to listen to sucky 80s hair bands like Winger and Y&T.  Maybe we'll grow up one day.

Until then though I will pimp out the Bastion OST until I get arrested for promoting musical prostitution.

I too am surprised by that, but pleasantly so.

What the fuck is dark castle
You know, you could just search them, or when I reviewed them and everybody just accused me of being the band and self reviewing, people could have checked them out  ;D
But since you asked, they're a psychadelia/black metal/doom group from Florida, and they have two albums.  Their first is Spirited Mitigation, and last year they came out with Surrender To All Life Beyond Form.  The two are radically different from each other, the first carrying the doom tag heavily, while the latter offers more of a psychadelic experience.  The members are Stevie Floyd, who mans the guitar, and vocals, and she's pretty amazing.  Rob Shaffer handles drums and boy does he beat the hell out of the drums, and also does some back up vocals.
So yeah, if that interests you check them out, they're a fantastic duo.

This might be a smidge more interesting if it was expanded to the top 20 instead of just top 10.

At which point people would be complaining that the 21st and 22nd album on the list isn't moving on to the next round.

I stopped caring at Scarsick.  BE was a mess but wasn't so bad, but with Scarsick following it...   I've almost picked up the Road Salts, but each time I realize I just don't want to waste the money on them anymore.  They gave me some albums I love and still play regularly, and that's fine with me.

Double check your list Nick.  There are math mistakes and bands being listed twice.  When the round is over I'll also do a tally to so you can cross check, but as is I know there are major mistakes.

The list isn't up to date yet, as I said in the post with the list. And I'm doing the list in excel, and having it do the math to help keep mistakes down, but of course there could still be some.

Edit: And all duplicates have been resolved in the master sheet now.

I could see the point if we only had 25 or so albums but there is clearly way more variety to consider past the prog heavy top 10. Yes I know board tastes etc etc but adding 10 more from a list that massive doesnt seem unreasonable.

Just because Journey put out some soppy stuff in the 80's doesn't mean they never made good music.  They started as a Bay area supergroup anchored by ex-Santana members.

Pleasantly surprised to see The Dear Hunter and Fair to Midland in the top 10. The rest aren't a surprise at all. There's almost no reason to include DT since it will obviously be first.

I don't see why these things have to go beyond this round.  The results are what they are.  DT wins in a landslide, and the rest have a mix of supporters and detractors to varying degrees.  It's no ones ideal list, but it most accurately reflects the consensus of the community.  That list is single-malt scotch folks.  It's the good stuff.  Any further attempts at distillation and blending will make it not as good and cheaper, same with scotch.  I'm a Macallan guy.  Don't serve me crap.

it's not my consensus.

there are two in that list that I voted for, and even being clever and listing DT last...I shouldn't have listed them at all knowing they'd win.

I mean I don't see why we even had to do this round since we could just guess at what the results would have been. :p
