Just stumbled upon a band/artist called Pugwash (name was familiar, but don’t think anyone mentioned them here). I think this fits in the power pop topic:

yeah I know them. They were suggested to me a number of years ago from a guy on rateyourmusic (or maybe mp.com, forget). I liked moments, but never was won over by them. But maybe I didn't hear the right song/album.,
