I appreciate that on larger phones the speed thing is less of an issue, but the beauty of swype is how clumsy you can be. I have written text messages whilst running before now and it got every word spot on first try!

I was like that, but most Android phones now have a setting that means the phone vibrates slightly for each key press when you're typing. It's a minor thing, but it makes typing feel SO much more natural. My Nexus S does it and I'm 95% sure the Galaxy S II does it as well.

I'll probably end up checking out a bunch of phones at a Verizon store. If I don't like it I might just get the Droid 2 or keep my current phone (which I really don't want to do...)

swype.com make sure you have enabled installation of apps from non-market sources

My droid (first one that came out, with keyboard) is broken... the touchscreen just goes off by itself so I can barely do anything with my phone. This happen to anyone else?

The only issue I've ever had with my droid (same one as mike) is that the headphone jack doesn't always work when listening to music. It fucking sucks, but I've dealt with it.

Hear me out on this. I had to have a slider phone for the longest time because my fingers are chubby and inaccurate. I was dead set against a strictly touch screen phone after a bad experience with one (Lg Vu). The salesman at Sprint persuaded me to take a look at the Galaxy S II. It has a big enough screen so that typing is easy. I love it, and would not trade this phone for any other.

I was the same with way with my blackberry but I type quicker now on a touchscreen over physical keys, way quicker.

Sounds like you have a weird situation with networks over in the US. Over here you can basically get any phone on any network. The only exception was when the iPhone first came out and you could only get it on O2.

Over there they have to have a texting plan so they don't pay for receiving texts and they also have to pay extra for using their mobile hotspots (even though it's data they're already paying for) OLOL

I absolutely have not understood the pay for mobile hot spot thing, outside of it being a cash grab by carriers. I saw it being defended at a forum for my phone, but it still is rubbish.

No big deal for me. I use PdaNet on an unlimited carrier (for now), so it's cool. All I need is the tethering.

I actually find the mobile hotspot thing really useful as well. My sister doesn't have Wi-Fi so I just use my phone's hotspot feature to browse the internet on my tablet when I'm there lawl.

My wife has a Motorola Droid 3, which has a slide-out keyboard.

It's perfect if you have a tablet as well, I just turn it on my phone and bam, I have internet everywhere.

should be installed already (it is on my SGSII).
To access it, find aplace where you can insert text. Hold down on the text box -> Input Method -> Swype.
