Round 4: Open Round II - THE RESULTS
This round, as I've previously stated, was my least favorite. Now, this doesn't mean that I haven't liked the songs or anything, there was just something about it that made me like it less than previous three rounds. But the songs were cool enough, let's see:
FIRST PLACE: A tie between Evermind and Elite
Evermind sent "Saviour In The Clockwork" by Avantasia.
I know a couple of Avantasia songs, and they're cool. This song is no exception to that rule, since it's a really groovy, fast and heavy piece of metal music. The song has two parts, being ten minutes long, the first part is kinda thrashy and features a really great and anthemic-sounding chorus. The second part is groovier and slightly heavier and the flow in the song is awesome. It made me go "yeah" a lot of times.
Elite sent "Suicidal Penguin" by Schizoid Lloyd
He decided to keep the vibes of the previous round in this one, for this is a really wacky but cool song, but this fairly recent band (this from their last year's debut). The thing I like the most is the vocal work. A lot of cool twists in it, and reminds me at times of a funny version of Symphony X. Really cool song, very eccentric, I have to check out the album.
9 points to each of you.
SECOND PLACE: sneakyblueberry, with "Limb From Limb" by Protest The Hero
I've been constantly hearing about this band since I've immersed in the prog territories, and this was the right time to check them out. And, as I expected, they have this mixture of prog, metalcore and overall awesome stuff and real great flow, that stream-of-consciousness styled songs kind of lack. But this had it since the first listen, and it's really a fun track. I love the "she is... SUUUUN" part , and the subsequent keyboard solo/djenty riffing. Awesome stuff.
8.5 pointsTHIRD PLACE: Sacul with "Anarchy X/Revolution Calling" by Queensryche
This is another classic I need to properly check out, but it sounds promising, even though I wouldn't classify this song(s) as "progressive" at all. It sounds like straight heavy 80's stuff. I don't know if it's just this song or the whole album, but it's what I think it sounds like, really. Even so, this song rocks. Catchy melodies, cool lyrics about social problems, and great fun vibe overall. Cool track, I hear O:M praised a lot, so I think I will check it out someday.
8 pointsFOURTH PLACE: Tie between WebRaider and Scorpion
WebRaider with "Glass Faces" by Corelia
This reminds me both of Periphery and some other band that I can't pinpoint. It's a cool song, but it felt a bit generic, admittedly. Very djenty and somewhat catchy, but not that awesome, but still, this band hasn't even got a full blown album yet, so what do I expect, really. Once again, nice but not that much.
Scorpion with "Shellmounds" by Grayceon
This was an interasting 10 minute track, with lots of cool cello parts and a dirty vibe. It had a nice tone, but it felt draggy at times - as for the cello, I always enjoy cello in rock music, as it kinda sounds like an electric guitar and adds texture to the song. With this song's produciton though, this aspect kinda didn't show up to me . So cool ideas but kind of meh
7 pointsFIFTH PLACE: Tie again, Shadowninja and Nekov
Nekov sent "New Day Rising" by Von Hertzen Brothers
This was the first straight rock tune in the roulette so far, and while I enjoy this kind of music, I don't think it's the type of song I'd send in a roulette. It has a cool groove, but that's about it, kinda stale. The chorus is ok, also.
Shadowninja sent "Homestuck" by Carne Vale (or is it the other way around??)
This was a surprise. An adrenalinic electronic song with electric guitars. Kind of reminded me of Rammstein, but not the type of stuff I would normally listen to. Not that bad though.

FELLAS, ROUND FIVE TIME!It's time for beauty. Send me beautiful, gorgeous songs. This could mean ballads, or songs with a high emotional/energetic power - really anything that you'd define gorgeous. Good luck!
