One of the new songs from the upcoming Pretty Maids compilation - solid enough , great intro  but sounds like a Motherland leftover to me.  Compressed to hell as usual....sounds like the Within Temptation blur of guitar/bass/keys.....that's one area where (like them or not) Primal Fear owns everyone at the moment (production)

Will check this tonight after work and gym.

You are right Brent, the production on Delivering the Black is just amazing.  The performances too are just so solid.  This possibly could be the best Ralf has ever sounded.

Agreed. Ralf treats this album like its his bitch. In a good way.

I dug it. You certainly couldn't tell there were any keyboards except the pre-chorus.  Rhythm section kinda blended together.  Still was pretty good, and will definitely keep me interested for the full release.

Haha - that is shiteful.   They've always been a cheese heart attack but that's off the scale and without the music to make it more palatable.    I have one CD of theirs (Eternity) which is decent but from memory a lot of their other albums are pretty bad.

I like the sound of that too - the key for me to enjoy an album in this style is for there to be plenty of variety.  If every song sounds like a variation of this one then it'll get tired pretty quick , but I have this down as a buy anyway. Fingers crossed.

I'll get some of their old stuff on rotation tomorrow to refresh the memory.....haven't played it in yonks..

Vanishing Point have been pretty 'consistent' with the last two albums in terms of songwriting styles.  The last one didn't do too much for on a whole but Embrace is classic.  Every song does have a similar feel, but they are also different from each other enough to enjoy the whole album.

That Freedom Call was pretty laughable, made even worse with the horrible video. They haven't done anything good since Eternity, though Legend of the Shadowking is decent. Mill still stand by Crystal Empire as part of my Top 50 though ... Love that album.

Vanishing Point was solid, as they usually are.

A couple of other new releases I'll be taking an interest in :

- new Dynazty due Feb 28

- new Seb Bach due (tentatively) in March with a line up including Steven Stevens and John 5 on guitar and Bobby Jarzombek on drums

Looking forward to the Dynazty. The last one was awesome and I play it regularly. High hopes.
Steve Stevens is usually worth a look but I'm no big fan of  Bach- not since the first Skid Row anyway, and half of the second.

I pretty much agree with you re Bach ...........listened to Angel Down the other day and it's crap.   I'm hearing this might be his best since Skid Row so we'll see.    He did sing well on Frameshift if you like the style.

I haven't been a fan of any of his solo stuff either, including Angel Down (although I actually like the Aerosmith cover despite not being an Aerosmith fan). Frameshift wasn't my style either.
If this album is the same style, I'll give it a miss. It really wouldn't take much to be his best since Skid Row imo, so we'll see.

Loved, LOVED Bach on Frameshift. Ended up being #4 on my second Top 50 list.  Was kinda meh on his solo stuff, but still a fan of him vocally.  Didn't know he was working on new shit.  Will definitely check it out.

Angel Down had some good songs but had some shit too.  Disappointing considering the amazing lineup.  The last one was rubbish.  I'll give the new one a chance mainly from a guitarists point of view.  Stevens is good and I like John 5.

Just listened to that Firehouse album, and it didn't really do anything for me to be honest.  There were a couple of cool rocking songs, but nothing more to make me want to check out any of their other work.

My favorites from that disc are "all she wrote" and " overnight sensation". Give the disc one more chance, maybe it will click.

I thought Angel Down was a very solid release, but kicking and screaming was terrible. Combined that with his voice sounded very poor recently, I have no hopes for this release. Will check out samples though.

Those were the exact two songs that stood out to me.  I guess cause they are more metal where the rest are more glam.

Yeah, Seb sounded terrible on Kicking and Screaming.  It didn't even sound like him really.

It sounds like regular modern Bach to me on Kicking and Screaming, the problem was more the generic crappy early 2000's metal songwriting.

Not a lot to judge, but sounds pretty rockin' to me. :tup Can't really say more until there's a whole song up.

Updates;

Winger - 30 second sample of new song Rat Race.

https://soundcloud.com/officialwinger/rat-race-teaser

Sounding good.

Three Lions EPK with Vinny Burnes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39IE3p0BTfA

Great to see Vinny back and this sound fucking excellent.

Magnum - Too many Clowns new song snippet;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FACTwimWKM

Don't know what to think of this.  Pretty much sounds like Rock and Roll from Zeppelin, and Catley sounds like he's really struggling.

New HEAT song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f6D5qP9WAc

This is shit, especially compared to the quality of the last album.

Hard to tell with the Winger but sounds very much (sound wise) like Karma to me.  So I thought you wouldn't like it Blob   ;D

Magnum........not of a fan of much they've done since the 80's tbh

H.E.A.T...................I agree - the little I've heard sounds like a huge step backwards

Three Kings - definitely will check this one out.  Not sure about the vocals just yet but having been a fan of Ten from day one I'll always check out anything with Vinny and Greg.  Nothing in that video turned me off - put it that way.

It sounds to me a lot more like the rock track I love, rather than the rest of the metal metal stuff I don't like though. Hopefully the whole album is more like this sample!

And yeah, that Magnum clip had Rock n Roll written all over it, but with shitty modern metal production, and worn out vocals.

The HEAT song was..... meh.

You still got in first on the rest.
