Alright, so here's that information I said you would want to have before sending anything. If there are any stragglers who would like to join, I'll still be accepting people signing up for a few days but in the meantime everyone can start sending their submissions for the first qualifying round. Given the number of people who signed up,
there will be two qualifying rounds.
Submitting- My preference is to receive submissions via Spotify. You can either PM me URI links (I prefer them to URL links) or you can send songs to me directly through Spotify. To do that just type my username - bolsters.s - into the Spotify search bar to find my profile, and click the button under my username in order to follow me. After I have also followed you back, you will be able to right click and "share" any song with me.
- If the song you would like to send is not on Spotify, you are one of those poor saps who can't use Spotify for some reason, or you're simply stubborn and refuse to use it - you can PM links to me where I can stream your songs. This includes but is not limited to: Youtube, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, etc.
- If you need to send me a file, use MEGA or send it via email (address provided at request).
- The length limit for all rounds is 12 minutes. However, each of you will have the option of sending one song during the roulette that exceeds this, with no limit imposed, in any round you wish. I would ask that you consider the number of songs I have to listen to and the short amount of time I will have to devote to the song before sending anything of considerable length. Still, if you've got a longer song in mind for me, have at it. The song length limit for the qualifiers however is 10 minutes.
- Any artist sent to me during the roulette is automatically banned for the remainder, regardless of my thoughts on the song I received. The banned artist list has a list of artists banned during the roulette at the bottom.
BonusesBefore sending anything, you may want to consider the following. While there will be no round themes here, I have added seven optional bonuses, and your songs will receive bonus points if you send something that fits. You may receive only
three of these bonuses throughout the roulette, you can net just one of them per song, and you personally can not aquire any of the bonuses twice. Since you can only be awarded three of the seven, it's up to you to decide which ones you want to go for (if any). These bonuses won't be available in the qualifying rounds so if you've got a good idea or three in mind, I'd suggest holding onto them until the main competition starts.
The seven bonuses are as follows:
- Orchestral/Symphonic - Any song that prominently features orchestral or symphonic instrumentation.
- Ballad - self-explanatory.
- Instrumental - self-explanatory.
- Pre-1980 - Any song that was released in 1979 or earlier.
- World Music - Any song that features world music influence.
- Synth/Electronic - A song that is primarily synths, or is electronic.
- Multiple Vocalists/Choir - Any song featuring more than one lead vocalist, or prominently featuring a choir.
I'll post a few clarifications and hints regarding these before the main competition starts.
