Interesting question. First ones to come to mind are Liberation by Chicago (Transit Authority) and Winter by Tori Amos. Possibly also Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush, The Dead Flag Blues by Godspeed You Black Emperor, The Toys Go Winding Down by Primus, Sisters of Mercy by Leonard Cohen, Live Forever by Oasis and Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf.
I think Liberation is the weakest song off their debut... Just too long, and though I admit that Kath was a great guitarist, his blues lines can't fill that much time and keep it interesting...
My examples would be:
Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight (of course he has written tons of other great tunes, but no-one can deny that this one is just awesome)
Linkin Park - Papercut
Lift - Abendstunde, Stille Stunde (not sure if anyone knows them here, eastern German prog band from the 70s, beautiful melodies and very intelligent lyrics)
George Harrison - My Sweet Lord
Falco - Ganz Wien (no, Rock Me Amadeus is not his only and by far not his best song)
Toto - Girl Goodbye (ah wait, I totally forgot that IT'S GONNA TAKE A LOT TO TAKE ME AWAYY FROM YUUUUUU)
