The big one for me this Friday is the new Rolling Stones album - their first one in 18 years. I've been a fan since I was a kid (over 30 years now).

Am quite excited for the new Lynch Mob out this Friday, the two singles so far suggesting Lynch may have gone back to something more in line with their heyday.  These two songs give me throw backs to their 92 SelfTitled which is more than fine with me.

Within Temptation - Bleed Out comes out this friday.  I like the band, but haven't followed the album release cycle at all. I do plan on checking it out though.

They haven't released an album I've really liked in a dozen years, but I'm sure they can still come up with a good song or two.

I liked Hydra quite a bit, but yeah The Unforgiving is where it's at.

Resist was fairly weak, bar a couple of songs. Interested to hear what the new one is like!

YES! I have recently concluded The Unforgiving is my favorite Within Temptation. I mean, I love their early stuff and Hydra is one I always enjoy too but The Unforgiving is just one great song after another. It's incredibly catchy but with massive replay value. Every melody hits hard and Sharon is practically perfect on it.

Also agree that Resist was a pretty significant letdown. Some of the newer stuff I've heard sounded mildly promising, so I'm curious too...

Dream Unending/Worm - Starpath (split)

I like both bands, but especially Dream Unending.  If you haven't checked them out, it is brilliant atmospheric death/doom.  Really good stuff.

Oh shit, I knew nothing about this. I discovered both bands last year and will definitely be on this.

Lalu / The Fish Who Wanted To Be King
Ronnie Atkins / Trinity

I'll also check out the Within Temptation release... but everyone's right - Unforgiving is where it's at.  Hydra was pretty good, but the last one did virtually nothing for me (I'm not even sure if I checked it out ... so maybe I'm being judgmental :lol)
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad

Ozric Tentacles have a new album out and unsurprisingly it’s sounding an awful lot like Ozric Tentacles.
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

Small Leaks Sink Ships - Low Tide

this album is not released until next week (10/20), but if you preorder, it includes a download/stream of the whole record per their bandcamp.

I'm a fanboy, but can't deny I'm loving this sucker already and trying not to overplay it (been listening to a lot of Everything Everything as well this week per I'm seeing them live tonight).

loving this.

Also our today is this album from a band called Unidentified Flying Project, which was supposed to include a contribution from David Longdon. :-(

It sounds amazing though.

+1, I also agree with all of that.  The UNforgiving is my favorite and they've gone down hill album after album since.  However, they do release some good songs regardless.

Good to hear.  I actually realized I have listened to some of these songs, as they trickled them out slowly over the last year.  I even recorded Don't Pray for Me when they played here literally a year ago. I'll check out the album for sure, my expectations just aren't high.

My favorite is The Heart of Everything.  Hard to gauge between The Unforgiving and Enter/The Dance because they're so different, but those are the next two.

"Don't Pray For Me" was fantastic, but the other singles from the new album so far had left me unenthused.

Wish I could agree with Ben_Jamin, but first listen wasn't super...

There were a few things that caught my attention (the welcome change in pace a la In the Middle of the Night of Worth Dying For, for example), but a lot of it was just "there". It wasn't a fully dedicated listen, though, so here's hoping further listens will change my opinion

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - The Silver Cord
Closure in Moscow - Soft Hell (although I think it may actually be out tomorrow)
Autopsy - Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts

I'll be all about the Gizz, with a side order of Closure in Moscow.

A few for Friday. I think I've hit all my big releases for the year now. The last one is the new Earthside in a few weeks.

Angra - Cycles of Pain
Suffocation - Hymns from the Apocrypha
Green Lung - The Heathen Land

Spiritbox - The Fear of Fear

Might check out the Angra but not really been interested in their last few albums.
