Can't say I'm anticipating anything tomorrow, but I'll spend tomorrow afternoon as I spend every Friday afternoon....dropping the needle on everything.

Tomorrow is the official release of the new Virtual Symmetry. It was available a few days early through the labels Bandcamp. Excellent progressive metal. I highly recommend checking it out.

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I've been following them for a few album cycles.  Really good Italian Prog/Power - right up my alley!
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
I fear for the day when something happens on the right that is SO nuts that even Stadler says "That's crazy".

I'll check out the new Destrage and Behemoth but I don't have particularly high expectations for either.

Edit: Behemoth was pretty boring, probably won't be returning to that one. Destrage was at least okay - I need a few more listens to see if it grows on me but it has more potential than their last two which were just completely unremarkable from what I can remember.

Just going through new Behemoth now. One song has stuck out as being OK so far but I'm unlikely to revist either to be honest. Not listened to the new Destrage yet but was pretty underwhelmed by the singles.

I quite like A Means to an End but The Chosen One was really dull. We'll see if the new one any better

Dropped the needle on this and ended up listening to the whole thing.

I didn't love every second of it, but lots of it were really good, particularly Third Crow and Hunt.

Only 35 minutes.

Hah! It's hardly Death or Black metal, although there are some influences. I'm actually really digging it. Giving it a second listen now.

revocation i skipped because meh.

They freaking crank!

Revocation have become one of my favorite bands since seeing them live on the Summer Slaughter Tour in NY. These guys are FAR from "meh".

Just listened to Diabolical Majesty from their new album and it’s a fantastic song. Will definitely listen to the full album. It will be my first Revocation album.

Chaos of Forms is probably my favourite of theirs but it's more melodeath rather than tech death. Either way, great band

Both electronic albums, but these two will probably be good:

death's dynamic shroud - Darklife
The Comet Is Coming - Hyper-Dimensional Expansion Beam

Are you a part of their mixtape club? I loved their May album Transcendence Bot enough that I had to sign up for it. Getting their entire discography + all new releases for $7 a month is a complete steal.

Just Nils Frahm for me tomorrow, but both Null and Weezer dropped new albums today (presumably for the autumn equinox) that I need to check out.

Tim, I imagine you'll be checking the Null album out too?

Yes I did!!! I actually got an email from them or Bandcamp this morning so I pulled up on Spotify. I think I only heard the first couple of songs before being distracted at work. I’ll hit it with headphones tonight.

Other than Stratovarius I also picked up:

Null - Origin
Kathaaria - To be Shunned by All... as Centres of Pestilence

I'm also planning on picking up Comedy of Errors - Time Machine, but now I'm starting to wonder if it was delayed, since I can't find it anywhere.

I did check out the previous Null album as Tim was pimping it pretty hard last year. At nearly 2 hours though, it was a chore to get through to be honest, and didn't exactly get me excited to hear the new one. Might give it a shot though. It's not that long again is it?

death's dynamic shroud was the only new release this week i cared about even a little bit (never listened to them before this one tbh) and even then i wouldn't say i -loved- it but, it was neat

doesn't seem like there's a ton of particularly interesting stuff coming out until taylor swift's album next month  :lol

I've only listened to it twice but I'm not sure how I feel about it, honestly. :lol It's very all over the place and I expected the hooks to be a bit stronger, but it's a lot to take in so it could definitely grow on me. This album from earlier this year is a must-listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8GfpIsM9To

I liked the new The Comet Is Coming as well, felt a bit more energetic and punchier than their previous stuff.

Frayle's Skin & Sorrow was great, as I hoped.  The sugary vocals won't be for everyone, but I love their brand of super-heavy atmospheric doom.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66ynO42zuoc

I didn't realize Morphide's Anhedonia just came out a few weeks ago.  They've been steadily releasing it via singles and videos for awhile now, but a few more tracks came out and the whole thing is up.  I don't know if they have the clout to blow up like Spiritbox did, but I love the One-era TesseracT vibe.

Ver much looking forward to this one tomorrow:

Darkest Era - Wither on the Vine

Their previous album, Severance, came out in 2014 (although I only discovered it a couple of years ago) and it's fantastic. They are from Ireland and they play, I don't know, some pretty epic metal that's both classic and slightly "blackened" (at times), all with clean vocals. Hope this doesn't disappoint.
