I can't believe I'm saying this, but after listening to Barlow's and Stu's approach at "Dante's Inferno" back and forth, I have to admit I like Stu's version more. Now maybe this could be due to the fact that his vocals are higher in the mix than Barlow's is, but even with that aside, the way he just belts out every word is just mind blowing. I get more of a sense of diversity in his vocals than I do with Barlow, in just simple things in the way he pronounces every word, and how he adds a certain twist to them in the way Barlow doesn't do.
As fantastic as Barlow's vocals are in the song, I feel at that point in his career he wasn't at his vocal peak, where as Stu sings the song now at a time where he's perfect. Barlow's approach at the song seems much more straight forward, where as Stu really throws in all kinds of twists and turns. I just really feel so much passion and energy in Stu's voice, it's incredible. Maybe this could be due to me hearing the original song so many times, so I could be a little bias with my thoughts, I'll have to give it some time.
I'm definitely anticipating how Stu will approach some of Barlow's best works like "The Coming Curse" "Dracula" "Damian" and others off Horror Show and SWTWC in a live setting. I'm sure once their tour kicks in, we'll be hearing tons of them.
