‘Roger, Over’😉

Please tell me this was a King-esque typo, or auto correct.

Actually, this is an intentional typo.

I could have written 'Roger, Oveur', the correct spelling, but then I thought I'd get some comment like above  ;) :lol

Either would have worked.  Captain Oveur pronounced his name "Over" and was confused every time Roger said "Over".  And Roger kept getting confused when they said "Roger".

But "Roger, Over" is actually correct.  "Roger" just means "confirmed" and "Over" means "end of transmission".  You hear people in movies say "Over and out" sometimes, but technically that's wrong.  "Out" means "I'm done talking now" so "Over" is implied.  But people like to say "Over and out" for dramatic effect, kinda like saying "Check and mate" in chess.  It's "Checkmate".  "Check" is implied.

So taking steps to not be ball busted actually ensured you would.  :lol But it was by pedantic.boy so I wouldn't worry about it.

I haven't seen Airplane in decades, but how do we know that Oveur is the correct spelling? Do they show his name badge or something?
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

I don't think we see it written on screen any time, but in the credits, Peter Graves is Captain Oveur.

The Airplane! movies and the Naked Gun movies have jokes in the credit rolls as well.

I can't help but thinking there's SOME relationship - no matter how tangential - between the way our syntax has gone in the shitter and the way so many other things have gone in the shitter around here (America).  I kid! I kid!  Not really! Not really!   :) :) :) :) :) :)

The Pink Floyd one is an all-timer, though.  :)

As always, great stuff here in the Sunday funnies over the past few weeks.  The white bronco was great, and it's been a long time since I'd seen the BoRhap one.   After two years, Baltimore County finally received over an inch of snow (about ten inches this week).  Instead of chairs and cones, I wouldn't be surprised if someone in this area did this.

Yeah, baby.  I also buy my breakfast cereals in Family Size because it's the best deal.  Doesn't matter that I'm the only one in the house that eats it.  I got big boxes of it and it's all mine.   :yarr

The 2011 movie is interesting.  It comes across kinda like a remake/reboot, obviously a different mission from the Kurt Russell movie, and then you get to the end and you realize it's something else.  It's not a bad flick in its own right, plus it has Mary Elizabeth, which is not a bad thing.
