This might have worked a bit better last round, and while it's interesting, probably not for me.

Besides the cringeworthy blatant tribute throughout the entire song, this was a cool tune.

Eh.....it's fine but I generally find this kind of style pretty generic and mild.

This was fine, but nothing really striked my ear.

Quite groovy and a nice atmosphere.  Not normally my thing but the chorus was quite ear catching.

Was kinda nice to have on in the background truthfully.  Solid atmosphere but didn't really blow me away.

I really couldn't get around a lot of that.  The melodies and vocals were a bit awkward.  The solo and outro was quite excellent though.

Hey thanks Tim. Would've taken me at least four tries to guess mine. Should've been obvious in retrospect, I had the same "is it enough?" impression last round. :)

Yeah, gone on Yandex.Music too. It was there last week. Pretty weird as the album wasn't very recent, I think it was from 2015.

I've got a couple of bonus tracks I considered sending but I'll hold onto them for now in case there's a tie.

You actually sent the best song on the album from memory. been a while since I've listened to it.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Wow, this is some excellent metal with a great cross of styles.  Really enjoyable and lots happening to keep my interest.

Some more heavy Insomnium vibes here but it didn't matter, this was excellent.

Liked the doomy vibe.  This style really seems to be up my alley lately.

Final round Kipressions

Crow - This was pretty tough to get through to be honest.

Besides the cringeworthy blatant tribute throughout the entire song, this was a cool tune.

This was fine, but nothing really striked my ear.

Evermind - Pretty damn epic with some really class soloing.  I wonder if it's enough?

This was really enjoyable.  Some really cool Wintersun vibes and loved that crazy middle section.

TAC - Strong submission, heavy Insomnium vibes.  Playing it safe for some reason or will this perform even better?

King - I really couldn't get around a lot of that.  The melodies and vocals were a bit awkward.  The solo and outro was quite excellent though.

Indi - I've heard the name but never heard the man but this was a wonderful tune with some outstanding playing.

This fucker ripped.  This is the sort of shit I wanted from you all along, dammit!!

Wow, this is some excellent metal with a great cross of styles.  Really enjoyable and lots happening to keep my interest.

Quite groovy and a nice atmosphere.  Not normally my thing but the chorus was quite ear catching.

Was kinda nice to have on in the background truthfully.  Solid atmosphere but didn't really blow me away.

From what I know of this guy, I didn't expect this at all, really solid.

Some more heavy Insomnium vibes here but it didn't matter, this was excellent.

Some excellent straight up old school style death metal with a touch of doom.  Refreshing to hear after not really receiving anything like this in this roulette.

This might have worked a bit better last round, and while it's interesting, probably not for me.

Final round scores.

Crow - Victory over the Sun - Thorn Woos the Wound

Man, what an interesting song and style but this was tough to get through to be honest.  Sometimes this really extreme type of thing can get me but this was a struggle.  There were elements I liked and the last two minutes were quite excellent and while it's somewhat unique and different and out of the box, wasn't something I could quite get into.

Score - 5.0

Stadler - Rival Sons - Mercy

This old school vintage rock style also never really interests me.  It's a fine some in its own right but didn't stand out.  I just struggle to really get much out of this style.  The melodies are fine but nothing new or exciting here for me unfortunately.

Score - 5.5

Shadow Ninja - Zeal and Ardor - Run

Bonus award - 17 second bonus

I wasn't quite sure what to make of this one, each time I listened to it, I tended to zone out a little.  There's some interesting stuff here and nothing I really felt the urge to skip and the heavier sections were pretty cool but not really a big hit unfortunately.

Score - 6.0 + 0.5 = 6.5

Sacul - Ulver - Machine Guns and Peacock Feathers

This one started off as a miss but the more I listened to it, the more I thought it actually wasn't that bad.  Cool atmosphere and groove really and the vocals fit what's going on here.   Not much more to say, as I mentioned though, probably would have fit better in the last playlist but while decent, not sure it's something I'd explore further.

Score - 7.0

Puppies - Dordeduh - De neam verger

This one was interesting.  Each time it came on, it didn't blow me away but it was kinda cool to let run in the background.  It has a nice atmosphere.  The vocals were pretty good but I have a feeling this would work much better in the context of a full album.  the clean vocals I could take or leave, but nothing offensive.  Just a cool track, that was about it for me.

Score - 7.25

King - Quantum - The Last Stone

As the impression said, I struggled with this a little because instrumentally it was great.  The solo and outro were very cool but the vocals and melodies just kind of were a little too awkward for me.  It was worth it instrumentally but again, I just didn't click with the rest.  My ears though really picked up from the second half to the end with the instrumental.

Score - 7.5

romdrums - VOLA - Paper Wolf

I'm pretty sure I've heard this band before as teh name and even this tune sounds familiar.  Might have sampled it.  This is a pretty cool laid back tune here.  It has the heavy elements with a really relaxed vocal approach without bordering on becoming boring.  The melodies of the chorus were surprisingly catchy too the more I listened.  Album might be worth a listen, I hope they have a bit more aggressive numbers though.

Score - 8.0

Lonk - Volbeat - Say No More

The Metallica homage here is absolutely laughable.  How many Metallica songs can you fit into one song.  The Eye of the Beholder rip at the start had me chuckling not to mention the 'jump in the fire' line.  Nevertheless, I've heard this band name a lot but never heard anything from them I believe.  This was a pretty killer tune regardless.  Great groove and really smooth enjoyable vocals too.  It's the definition of solid, but certainly not in a bad way.  Pretty cool.

Score - 8.0

Reaper - Ola Englund - Balmegmah

I've watched heaps of his videos but never went any further with him.  His learning songs on the spot videos are pretty enjoyable but for someone who doesn't know his music he comes across not as good as what's on display here lol.  Foolish me, cause there's some ripping playing here.  Not much more you could ask for from a metal instrumental piece.  Nothing new here but cool shit.

Score - 8.25

Dr. DTVT - Khemmis - House of Cadmus

This doom metal style is something I'm liking more and more with what I'm hearing, right up my alley at the moment.  The clean vocals here really work well with the style and the riffing was very cool.  The harsh vocals later in the song though only help it and made it more enjoyable again.  With some great lead work in there also, this turned a really cool tune, loved the atmosphere.

Score - 8.5

lonestar - Mental Cruelty - Symphony of a Dying Star

Now this was really cool.  Strong Wintersun vibes but this held my interest from the start and this is definitely more up my alley than a lot of your other submissions.  The melodies were catchy and hooked you in and how about that middle section.  I didn't mind that change up at all.  Great guitar playing near the end and I really enjoyed the vocals too.

Score - 8.75

Litho - Quo Vadis - Break the Cycle

This was a nice tune.  More bordering tech death metal but in a way that's a bit more meldoic and catchy than most.  There were lots of twists and turns here but everything was crafted and structured really well.  Loved the vocals too.  Love the almost Watchtower like section at the 2 minute mark and the solo is great with those key changes, tasty stuff.  Definitely one to check out further.

Score - 8.75

Indi - Frank Marino - Imagine

Bonus - 17 second bonus

Again, seen his name for years but this is the first I've heard from him.  Not what I expected but I really enjoyed this.  Great groove, great production and nice vocals.  One thing I noticed was his guitar tone, it's excellent and his licks are crafted in a simple fashion with some simple Aeolin playing I think with a dash of harmonic minor in there at times to fit the mood.  Really tasty playing, good tune, really good actually.  love the looping licks at the end too.

Score - 8.75 + 0.5 = 9.25

twosuitluke - Hooded Menance - Blood Ornaments

Some old school classic sounding death metal with some doom elements?  Yes please.  Really enjoyed this.  Loved the vocals and again, really digging the old school vibe.  Length was fine too and it never got boring.  Definitely right up my alley these days so you've come home very strong, just like I hope you would have.

Score - 9.25

Jingle - Nicklas Sonne - Spit Out Your Pride

Now this is what I expected from you from the start.  This fucker rips.  Reminds me of Firewind in the verses with the riffing.  Great vocals and I could have sworn that was Romeo on the lead guitar.  Anyway, this is nothing new, but hits the pocket hard with the agression, speed, power and playing.  Wonderful, great finish from you!

Score - 9.5

ariich - Aetherian - Soulriver

The insomnium vibes are strong but this is a brilliant tune, love it.  Just epic melodic death metal.  And while the Insomnium vibes are as close to Insomnium as you can get, it's fine with me.  I love the vocalist.  A bit more gutteral than most for the style but I think that works well.  Wonderful, nothing more to say.

Score - 9.5

Evermind - Carthagods - Memories of Never Ending Pain

I remember seeing this name around here when the album came out but not sure if I checked it out.  This was pretty epic all round and had a pretty cool atmosphere.  The vocalist has a cool voice and reminds me a lot of Rick Altzi, nice tone.  The outro solo fits what's going on so damn well too.  The solo was what kept me coming back to it though, great stuff and made me enjoy the first half more as it really kicked in, if that makes sense.  Anyway, a great tune but......

Score - 9.0

TAC - Astralborne - Across the Aeons

From your wildcard, this was an easy choice, this is tremendous.  We have some real strong Insonmium vibes again, with even some melodies I reckon are directly ripped from some of their older stuff but again, doesn't bother me.  The melodies that the guitars are playing throughout are incredible and really lifts this to another level as we go.  That middle section though, that's where its at.  Again, sublime guitar melodies and they just keep coming.  Really epic stuff through this middle section.  The reprise of the melodies around the 7 minute mark makes this more epic again.  Definitely an album to check out.

Score - 9.25

Congrats Tim!  Was always going to be the one to beat but your consistency throughout carried you to the victory.  Tim's prize was a dinner and drinks with the great man, what a treat.  Here's a pic of them celebrating the victory.

Diabolical.  No idea who that other band is.

Ov Sulfur is solid as fuck, I would've sent you them but just couldn't squirell them in with the bands I had selected already. Check out their track Oblivion

Cheers for playing everyone, this was very enjoyable and I hope everyone had a bit of fun too.  Will be bumping the thread from time to time with thoughts on my listening's from albums and bands from this roulette.  Again, thanks everyone!
